"Twi"conomy? How Vampires and Werewolves Have Boosted Our Economy This Weekend.

I just read the new Twilight movie grossed a bit over $70 million dollars its first 24 hrs and is projected to hit $150 after the weekend. I also read that one of the Harry Potter movies grossed almost $100 million in its first day.

Obviously, America has some disposable income. Why are we wanting to tax the rich again? Obviously Twihards and Potterheads are more than willing to pump alot of money into our economy in short spurts. If only we can find away to use fans of lunar cycles and horcruxes to continue to stimulate our "ailing" economy.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Talks, maybe you should turn away from those trees and re-read my question. You totally missed the gist.

I took my girls to it, $5 a person and we loved every moment of it!! So to me including food under $40 for entertainment for me and my daughters is pretty cheap, yes I could have put $40 to something else, but it is what they wanted to spend their money on.

$10 for a movie
Half a million for a small house

I'd have to go to 50,000 movies to = a small home in my area

The logic doesn't compute. Sure... 7 million people bought $10 tickets... or 140 people buy half million dollar homes.

10 bucks does NOT equal disposable income.

I have a budget that includes one movie night a month, I have to choose wisely ... and many of the people I know have been making sure they see this movie, even if it means spending less in some areas ... gosh it should not cost as much as it does to enjoy the movies any more!

Our disposable income is in direct proportion to how much overtime my husband wants to put in that week. And by "overtime" I mean anything above 60 hours. You know, because we're part of that lazy 45% that gets back all federal income taxes while still paying sales tax, property tax, school tax, social security tax, workman's comp...and gladly. Our local GE plant paid NO TAXES this year while raking in billions in profit. What was the question again? I got sidetracked by my disgust...

It's interesting how the vampire craze hits all ages and types. I am on facebook with the cousin of my very first boyfriend....from over 30 years ago! LOL.. He's just a teen and I've never met him. Anyway, he went to the movie with his friends this weekend and they all have long hair, tatoos, ring noses etc... Then one of my moms went out last night and brought her 3 year old to me. When the husband came in to get him, he said he hated it and would have rather been at an action film. Their son watched the Muppet Alien movie on the couch next to me while I snoozed. I am pretty certain that if I went to one of those movies, I'd snooze through that too.

Just goes to show how the priorities are pretty messed up in this nation.
We pay out big bucks for entertainment, but that's about it, we hate spending it on anything else other than junk food I guess? We are the nation of fat, entertained people.
