Tutoring Experience with Sylvan

Ok I use to work for sylvan as a T.A and I can tell you now that only if SHE wants to fix the problem can they help. There were a lot of kids that were coming that the parents were paying SOOOOOO much $ and they could have cared less. You need to sit down with her and have a talk about all of it.
I have a learning disorder also, and it just takes time for them to get it. She may just learn a different way than the other kids and I think once SHE knows how then the teachers there at sylvan can help her more. I know that I learned better by doing rather than listening to the teacher. Maybe too you can talk with her school and see about getting her into special classes.

Sylvan tutored my daughter for 3 months after school. There wasn't any change in her grades at the end of the grading period. I pointed this out to them but they said that there was a change in their tests that they gave to my daughter. I took her out of the program.

was this for time your daughter spent there already? i would think you can't cancel a loan for services you already recieved. it's not sylvans fault that your daughter has a learning disability. they did what they could. you still have to repay the loan.

Hi L.! I am so sorry that your daughter has been having problems in school. I know that must be very stressful. Unfortunately, you received services from Sylvan and must pay them back. There is nothing that you can do to 'cancel' your loan. If you truly felt that the tutoring was not worth the time or money, you should have stopped taking her to the sessions which would have reduced the cost and you wouldn't have had to go into debt over it.

I encourage you to look to see what kinds of services that the local schools offer to help kids with learning disabilities.
