Turtle Shower Ideas

Hello everyone!
I was just wondering if there were any really creative moms out there who could help me! I am throwing a turtle-themed baby shower for my sister-in-law. I have thought of turtle-themed games and decorations, but need more snack ideas. I have a turtle-shaped cookie cutter, and I thought about turtle-shaped sandwiches, cookies, Jell-O and rice crispy treats. I also have turtle molds and am making turtle chocolates and ice cubes. Are there and other things I could make? Thanks!

What can I do next?

There is a great website that I have used for other themed parties.....www.krittersinthemailbox.com They have some really cute gifts and ideas.

And I think that the idea is cute...you can never over do something like that.

I'm sure with a creative touch, you could make a fruit salad and use the watermelon as the bowl, cut in have and make it to look like a turtle on it's back. You might even be able to find an inexpensive turtle toy to tear apart and use the head and feet to attach to the watermelon shell. I used to do this and make a baby buggy with the watermelon using fruit for the wheels etc...there is also a very cute turtle "tubby toy" holder/strainer that hangs up, I'm sure this would serve as something very cute (napkin holder?) and then be a present for the new mom. Good luck.

Have you considered what turtles eat? If you're talking about land turtles, my turtle eats worms (a great substitute being gummy worms in dirt cups), tomatoes, kale, cantaloupe, melons, strawberries, spinach - hey, maybe a salad fit for turtles lol!

I wouldn't over do the turtle thing, its one thing when its cute, but too much of a good thing can be a hassel and where its out come is unwecomed. I would go with a few candy shaped as turtles and cut outs of sandwiches, and ice cubes. But anything else, I'd keep regular shape. Good Luck.

If you are serving actual food, not just snacks, you can make a "turtle sandwich" with a hot dog cut lengthways laying inside a hamburger bun "shell". Use an olive on a toothpick for the head. The hot dog'legs' stick out of the bun. If you want detail, you can add a thin vegetable as a tail on the opposite side.
If you simply serve "turtle flavor ice cream" and send them home with actual chocolate "turtles" for party favors, you won't need anything more such as jello shapes or molding rice crispy treats - which is much more time consuming. Have fun, and don't stick your neck out too far!!

How about making ice cream cone cup cakes? And make some turtles to put on top of them> You get regular ice cream cones, set them up and then fill them to line by the top, using regular cake mix. Bake at whatever the cake needs baked at and they will rise and make little cakes in the cones. Ice them and then you can put little turtles on them. Just a thought.

take a round pretzel, fill with melted carmel(take brachs carmel and a little half and half and melt in microwave) and then put a pecan ontop of that when warm and then cover in chocolate.

You could make a turtle shaped cheese ball. I make cheese balls all the time and they usually go over well. I think a turtle would be a pretty easy shape to do. You could cover the outside in toasted peacans or almonds to make the shell. Or if you wanted a green one you could cover the outside with some herbs. I can email you my recipe if you are interested.

I did a turtle cake for my daughter's birthday party. I can't seem to put a picture on here, but if you want to email me privately, I can send you the pic and instructions.

It was really cute!

Hi J.,

Isn't there something called "Mock Turtle Soup"? You could serve that.

Some non-food ideas: make your SIL some thank-you notes decorated with turtles as a present; I presume you are already going to use turtles on the invitations.
