I had our third child in January 2009. It was a difficult c-section and since my husband and I were happy with three, I also had the tubal ligation done. The c-section was horrible in terms of the amount of pain I was in during the procedure. During recovery, my blood pressure dropped and I started bleeding internally. I was very ill for the first 4 days of my daughter's life.
Since then, I have been having horrible stomach pains that start around the time I ovaluate and last for a week, sometimes two. The pain is a sharp pain that is constant. I also feel bloated and I am unusually tired and achy. Then my period starts and it is very heavy for several days with lots of clots (sorry to be so graphic). I would call my gyn, but money is really tight right now and we owe her a lot of money which I am sure that they will want. Is this normal? I am scared that something is really wrong. Any advice would greatly be appreciated. Thank you so much.

Have never had either but I would definitely call my gyn, you never know what it could be and it is better to be safe than sorry.
If you are scared that something is really wrong please don't delay going to the doctor. Money might be tight now, but if this really is something serious it'll only be more expensive in the long run. You could perhaps look into public health clinics or maybe Planned Parenthood?
I know money may be tight right now but due to your bleeding history I would get it checked out. I know it's not ideal but you could try to see an ob/gyn at the health department if you really needed to. c-sections and recovery shouldn't be as bad as you have described it and this may be part of a complication that occurred during it.

I am not a Doctor, but I have learned over the years, if something does not go away soon, or if something is different to trust my instincts and go to the Doctor. Even if you owe her, you need to go. I am sure she will understand and if she doesn't, then get another Doctor after. But what if something is wrong and you could have prevented it. You have 3 children to think of. Money means nothing. Your health means everything. Go, get some peace of mind. You will feel better and so will your family. If they will not see you due to money, call someone else. There are good doctors out there. Don't let your pride or guilt stand in your way. Sorry, if I sound harsh, but I used to be like you worried about everyone else, and I found out that I worried for nothing. Thank God!

Please call your doctor. If you don't have big bucks tell them you'll give them a couple of dollars. Or try a different doctor. No one says we must stay with the same person forever. Just get it checked out. It will be easier on you finding out its nothing than being in pain and possibly some from the stress when you have to care for these wonderful little people.
I had a ligation after my 3rd c-section also. Before that my cycle was a mild 3 day inconvenience. After the tubal, I finally understand why women would call in to work, etc during their cycles. I was so miserable the first 2 years that I wished I could go back in time and reverse the decision. My dental hygenist even said she wished I had consulted her before I had it done. The flow was so heavy I would go through a pad in a couple hours. My OB suggested a procedure to help with that but I didnt think it was worth going under the knife again. My youngest is now 4 and things have tapered off to pretty much normal. I still get a little cramping during my cycle and ovulation (which I never had before) but it is definetly manageable.
I think you need to go in, that does not sound like it's normal. It may be normal, because after my first that is what I had happen - my easy periods went to monsters of pain - but it could also indicate not all of the placenta was removed, that you have a cyst or that you are still out of whack with your hormones. After my second child, also a c-section - my periods returned to normal. That was also when I had my tubal.
Please go in and get yourself checked.
I have had the same clotting problem since my c-section and tubal over 7 years ago. my doctor suggested the pill and while i was on it it did help. (due to my age and smoking habbit i am no longer on it and just deal with it...)
the painful ovulation i have delt with since i was 16...this is something my doctor couldnt fix other than to remove the ovary, which at the time i opted out of because i wanted children. now its just one of those things i deal with monthly...alieve helps tons if you take it at the first sign of pain.
find a way to get in and see your doctor...it may be something more that what i (or anyone else) has experienced and you want to get it checked out.

I cannot speak from experience beacuse I have not had a c-section nor a tubal...but your symptoms seem very similar to my friend's. She had to have a hysterectomy and she said that since then she has had no more pain and her sex life is much better!
Bills do suck, but there could be something that needs to be looked at, I honestly would call the gyn and have it checked out. Good luck!
I have heard of women experiencing a lot of pain after a tubal, and one woman had a "massive" period that never stopped for over a month. She is now fine.
I think you could call your gyno's office and ask to speak to a nurse. She may be able to dispell your fears and let you know if you should come to the doctor or not. And it shouldn't cost you anything to speak to him/her (although be prepared to wait on hold for quite a while).
I hope you feel better soon and try to keep positive thoughts running through your head. Tubal is a serious surgery which is why I had my husband go vasectomy LOL! Tons cheaper and only three days of pain.

I can definately relate to money being tight but you really should see a doctor. If not your gyn then maybe look into a free clinic or something. If you feel something is wrong, you need to follow your instincts and, some how, get looked at. Money may be an issue, but you can't put a price on your health.
I would definitely call your GYN & talk to someone, I wouldn't take chances no matter how tight money is, it's your health afterall. Also, you may get an answer over the phone if you explain your financial situation. I was going to add that I had a tubal after a c-section (2 yrs. ago), and I did go through some of the same symptoms your describing. I have gone in to my GYN and everything is fine. I have changed the way I'm eating & drinking alot of water especially when I'm approaching my monthly cycle, which has really helped. Good luck & definitely call the Gyn. The nurse alot of the time can even set your mind at ease.

The same thing happened with me. I had a tubal ligation after my 3rd c-section. My c-section went fine, same with recovery. The only problem I had was when I resumed my periods. They were horrendous and each one did get worse, more painful and heavier and longer, than the previous. I have read online and also with speaking with other women that this sometimes will happen with a tubal ligation, nothing to do with the c-section. I actually opted for a hysterectomy. Of course this is a personal decision, but I know for me it was the right one, I have 3 children, do not want any more. There are other options out there, you do need to discuss this with your doctor as it does not get better on its own. My youngest will be 4 in March and I had my hysterectomy in November.
I had a tubal done 18 months ago, and once the initial healing was done, I don't experience pain on a monthly basis.
It sounds as if you are developing ovarian cysts. They hurt a lot for several days, then they rupture, and are expelled with your period. They may just by cysts, but they may be something more serious. I would get checked out, if I were you, because as you know, the sooner you can catch something the better. Not to mention, if you have insurance, then I'm sure your deductible is filled by now, as you had your daughter this calendar year.
If you aren't going because you owe your gyno a lot of $$, you can always go to a new one. Just doing an pelvic ultrasound may answer a lot of questions.

I had my tubes tied many years ago but I had not had a c-section. I did experience the heavy bleeding that they forgot to tell me would happen. Maybe having it done so soon after the c-section made a difference. Do some research on line at medical web sites and see what you come up with. I do know that you will have blood clots after giving birth but not 10 months after the child has been born. If you still don't find any answers I would call the doctor. I am sure you are not the only one in this economy that has not paid their bill in full.

I would go to the dr, just like the others have suggested. I had a tubal ligation 2.5 yo and did not have pain and bleeding directly after. Mine started 6 mo later. I had an ovarian cyst along with polyps. I had a D&C to remove the polyps and a Laprascopic procedure to remove an ovary and the cyst. The bleeding and pain is not worth it.....have it checked out and taken care of. HTH! Good luck!

If I were you, I would go to a free clinic or Cook County Hospital. I would not take any chances, you need to be healthy and your family is depending on you. I lossed my 3rd child and that was hard.
