I have had two c-sections and with this last one I had a tubal ligation at the age of 21 . It's been eight months since I've had c-section and tubal ligation and still no menstural cycle ... Plus no sexual desire, hair loss, and mood swings ! Is this normal after tubal ligation ?

What can I do next?

Welcome to mamampedia!!!

You need to talk with your doctor and let him/her know what is going on.

You are VERY young and have 2 kids under 2??? That in and of itself would lead to no sexual desire, hair falling out and mood swings.

You NEED to talk with your doctor. You need to have a check up. Is it possible you have postpartum depression? I don't know. But strangers on the internet can give you THEIR experiences but a DOCTOR can examine you and run blood tests...so GO TO THE DOCTOR!!!

Were you on birth control prior to your pregnancy? Because if so, and that's what you're comparing your cycle/hormones to now - it could be very different.

After my last baby, I felt terrible. I had my hormones checked. They were fine. I was just used to being on birth control. My hair, weight, moods, and periods were all different and that's why - I was no longer on the pill (didn't need to be).

I've had friends get very irregular periods when they have stopped using birth control. Others (like me) had periods that got way worse.

Good luck - I see you've already made an appointment with your doctor - that's the way to go :)

Ask your doctor about Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome, but don't Google it.

You were 21?... I guess that's besides the point.
You have gotten some good advice. Could be tubal ligation syndrome. The hair loss doesn't fit the picture though, unless it has to do with your nutrition, hormone fluctuations, or anxiety. Talk with your dr about it.
Depending on the type of tubal ligation you had, obtaining a reversal is possible though costly. I had my tubal ligation successfully reversed. :)
I'm not saying that's something you would be interested in... But it's nice to know. Talk to your Dr.
Good luck and congrats on your babies!

Tubal ligation syndrome is very questionable as a condition. There's nothing in the TL procedure that disrupts hormone levels or affects menstrual cycles. Even scar tissue is very rare (more likely with the c-section itself), but even so, that would cause pain and not a loss of your period.

When did you have your last baby? Two kids at a young age, post partum depression, stress, relationship issues, breast feeding, exhaustion, etc., are all causes of mood swings, cessation of periods, and loss of desire. For some women, ending their fertility can have a psychological effect and contribute to moods and loss of libido. Hair loss - I had that with low thyroid output.

See your doctor but I doubt there is any basis for blaming the tubal ligation, as least on a physical level. Emotional, maybe. Get a medical checkup and some blood tests, get some help with the 2 kids, and get some short-term counseling to help you with these adjustments. Good luck!
