Has anyone ever had a TSH of 5 or higher? If so, how did you feel? When I talk with the doctors, I'm getting mixed info. When I look online there is way too much varying info. I know that a couple of you answered to my previous post, but I'm curious if other people have had a TSH of 5 or higher and if so, how did you feel? What were your symptoms? Was there resolution once your TSH went down?

Thanks =)

Yes, mine was much much higher than 5, I was thoroughly exhausted, plus other classic low thyroid symptoms, but they all went away within about two to three weeks of taking thyroid hormone. I am still taking it, fifteen years later.

5 is low. You need to be on some kind of thyroid hormone. It's not a big deal, just a pill once a day. Synthetic thyroid worked fine for me.

Yes! When I first discovered that I had a thyroid problem, my initial TSH tested at 52!!! 52!!!!
You can imagine that caused alarm with my doctor. I was having periods of blacking out/feeling faint, my hair was falling out, I was dropping weight, and I was exhausted.

7 years later, we've regulated me. I feel my best when mine is at 1.6 or 1.7 Anything more or less than that, and I feel it.

I hope you're talking about this with a medical doctor.

hello
I just happen to stumble upon a good site with regard to thyroid. I ended up there when I was researching anemia and learned that a thyroid condition can present similar symptoms. that said, it's called
stopthethyroidmadness.com
It's great because it discuss how misleading TSH levels can be and how you also need other tests in conjunction with that test..
check it out, I found the info useful.. it's free..
go under the section "what we have learned" and it lists how to interpret the tests and why the TSH is not a good indicator... it's packed full of great info..

best of luck to you
