TSA guidelines were not specific on baby food/ apple sauce and the one I'm most interested in, those great fruit purees that come in the drinkable containers. I reallllly want to bring some on the carry on since it is the best no mess way to feed baby. Any one had their prepackaged fruit puree confiscated in security check? The guideline I read said no yogurt, puddings or gell like foods.
Its 3.17 oz.

What can I do next?

I just travelled with several in my diaper bag. I had them in the authorized quart ziploc bag -- put them in the bin with the diaper bag, next to the shoes, etc and didn't have any issues. I had 4 of the large 4.2 oz Plum packages. Good luck!

Call your airline.
Tell them you are travelling with a baby. Ask what you CAN bring.

Best wishes.

I've had unopened apple juice boxes from the McDs right outside security trashed. They would probably treat it like yogurt. Although, if you put it in a plastic bag to be scanned seperately, as part of your diaper bag they may let it through. It would still need to meet the 3oz requirement.

I don't know about baby food, but I had some fruit cups that were tossed since they were larger than the 3 oz and contained liquid. You might be okay if they're smaller than 3 oz.

I'm pretty sure they'd get tossed. If they are less than 3 oz you have a chance to get them through by placing them in a bag and claiming them but if they are expensive, I might not risk it!

I just travelled with some. If they're under 3 oz you can put them in a plastic bag and claim them. If not, they'll be caught and tossed. They have the same consistence as yogurt and are treated the same.

Yes, I have. It was over 3 ounces so it had to go in the trash. Sorry!

I can't speak for domestic flights, but for overseas, I'm sure they would make you toss them. Maybe if the 3.17 ounces is under the amount they allow for things like hand gels etc. you could get it through, but it depends on the TSA agent who inspects your items. Internationally they are very, very tough, I've found.

Why not just call your airline to ask?

Up until last year I packed foods like that for my daughter (she too old now) - even yogurt. I have never had a problem getting through a checkpoint. With the yoghurt they did "swab" it for explosives. As long as it is packaged in closed/originally packed containers you should not have a problem...
I always put it in a separate bag and let them know I am bringing it on board. I have brought juice packs, baby food in glas containers, applesauce, yogurt in cups and in tubes.
I know that they are not consistent (it depends on the person you get in line, the airport, etc) but I would just give it a try and be mentally prepared to toss it if they ask you to.

I just flew in June and I had no problems bringing any of the baby's food. I put it all in a separate grocery bag so it would be easy to declare. When I was in the Savannah airport, they made me go off to the side and get one of those new total body pat downs, and in Los Angeles, they tested the food somehow without opening it. Both times, I made sure that they knew that it was for the baby, and as long as you don't have an excessive amount, you should be fine. Oh, and the ounces did not matter. I brought on 4 ounce jars.

This article states that you are allowed to bring on jars of food, straight from TSA website.

Am I the only one that TSA likes? My husband travels a lot for work so I take the kids and meet him... They probably see a crazy mom with a baby and a toddler and think, "This lady had other things to worry about rather than bringing harmfull items onto a plane!" I travel from DFW (Dallas) to the Midwest, NYC, Vegas and (knock on wood) never have hand to throw food out. Un-open 4 pack of play-doh, yes :(
Just put it in your ziploc and go. Happy Traveling
