I often advertise in the Fort Worth Star Telegram. You can advertise free if it's just 3 lines and costs under $200.
I need to sell our bedroom furniture. My husband has been laid off for almost four months now. We are a one income family. What do you think is the best way to sell this furniture. We have tryed Craigs list with only one call. We are in severe financial problems now.

Many have echoed sentiments and advice. This won't help you sell your furniture, but if you aren't already, make sure to join your local Freecyle group at www.freecycle.org. It's how neighbors GIVE AWAY unwanted stuff. Very often you can find clothes, children's items, and other household things you may not be able to afford to buy right now. Plus, you can give away things you can't sell.

Is your husband not having any luck finding a job? I know the company I work for is hiring. Not sure what kind of work he is or might be looking for, but email me and I will give you the information. My email address is:

I would like to see pics or give a description of the furniture & how much are you seling it for?
Hi N.,
I feel for you. We were in a similar situation a few years back. It was tough, but we both had to end up working (and not in our fields). I worked days and my hubby worked nights because we couldn't afford childcare. The jobs we took paid much less than what we were used to, but with both of us working, it helped.
I would keep trying Craigslist and/or post a picture up at your local grocery stores, etc...
I presume you took pictures to put on Craig's list.....
If so, perhaps your location is far or your price is off.
Pardon me for offering advice that you didn't ask for, but I want to help somehow.
- I hope you have considered going to work if you're in "severe financial" circumstances. Your husband could watch the kids while you're at work and he can use some of that time to scout out opportunities in his field. Or, if you have a local YMCA, they might give you a scholarship to help pay the cost of childcare for awhile.
- He could work 2-3 part time jobs until he finds something better.
- Presume he's applied for unemployment compensation.
- Both of you tell everyone you know what kind of job he would like to find and that he's willing to work at anything to stay afloat. (Maybe even posting that info on this website!! The percentages of people finding work in this way are the best. If you have a church, be sure to include them. Once, I heard about a neighbor's situation and knew he was handy so I hired him to do every thing I could think of for my house and my rented townhomes. Tell him not to be too proud to deliver pizzas, work part time at a hardware store, learn how to service swimming pools, etc. Good luck!
I have had some luck on ebay, but there is a charge to sell there and often it has taken me 4 or more postings to find the right buyer...
I also wanted to say that Starbucks offers benefits to employees. I have a friend that works there as a manager and is able to support his family (stay at home mom and baby). Just an idea.
Best wishes to you!!!
I am new to the area and have no help for you regarding your furniture. However, I am a mom of four and I homeschool and my husband was laid off now for two months and we've been living the stress you and your family are living now. What does your husband do? If you want to let me know what business he's in there's an off chance that we may know someone in that area and could help you. I also will be praying for you today. I will pray that you will understand that all of this seems so dark and it is easy to despair, especially when you have to make such sacrifices and ask your children to make sacrifices as well. We too can see the end of our accounts and we know that the day of selling our house and its contents is not far off. I've cried thinking of the conversations I'll be having with my kids asking them to sell much of what they own. But nothing surprises God and he was not taken aback by this. He sees your bank accounts and knows your needs. I'm praying that this would be a week of His revealing Himself to you more and more profoundly. I will pray also that your husband finds work. My husband goes to a group over in Southlake called Southlake Focus Group. You can google it to get all the info. He has found it quite helpful in making connections and find others who may be able to hand his resume out. He would highly recommend it and he's not a get-together kind of guy. He would only like a thing like that if it was truly useful. Okay, I'm praying for you. I want you to know that I understand. You're not the only one!!!
You can try a consignment shop, and keep relisting on Craigs list. I found that most people just look at the most current days' listings, so if you listed a while back, I'd post it again every week or so until you get an offer you'd like to accept.
Good luck!
I know someone looking for a mattress set if it is in good shape.
I am interested in buying bedroom furniture can you please send me pics and prices
I think I would continue trying to use Craig List. Did you use pictures to advertise. I was told for the furniture I had to sell and w/d that pictures help tremendously. Ebay may be your other option. A lot of people are in your position right now. I learned this from our estate sale we had yesterday for our parent's belongings. We sold a lot of stuff but for example the washer and dryer that was practically new and the almost new sofa we didn't. We are going to post on Craig List if they don't sell at our smaller garage sale we are having next weekend. I know you need the money but hold on and just try to be a little patient. I think your set will sell. Hang in there and God Bless you.
Maybe you should worry more about finding part time work to help out your family while your husband looks for his next job. Selling furniture sounds like a bandaid on a sliced artery with four children!

There is a consignment store for furniture in Frisco, on Main St. Have you tried there? I am very sorry for your situation but just remember, God will not bring you to it if He isn't going to bring you through it!
Good luck!
