Trying to Excersice

I'm looking for a comfortable pair of shoes for the gym. I have a couple pairs but they aren't giving my heels the comfort that they need. By the time I'm done on eliptical and treadmill my feet are numb because there is no padding or what you want to call it inside the shoes. They're not like they used to make them. Does anyone know of a good brand of shoe with a lot of comfort and support in the heel of the shoe? Don't want to spend more then $50 or so tho but I really need a good pair of shoes.

What can I do next?

maybe look at getting good insoles instead of different shoes they have ones with extra heel support at walmart or kmart or target, you can either remove the ones that come with the shoe or use the new one over the top (you have to figure out how mych support you need and how cramped it will make your toes)

Ryka is a special brand made just for women and they make great shoes for the gym. You should also consider going to a good shoe store so they can help you pick out the right shoe for your needs. I like TC Running and Marathon Sports and they have very competitive prices. I will warn you that it is pretty difficult to find a pair of good workout shoes for less than $50 and that might be why you are having so many problems. I find that a quality shoe is worth every penny!

I agree with the recommendation for insoles. You can get high quality ones that will last a while at Foot Locker, Sportmart, etc.

I agree with going to a specialty store and having someone fit you. They sell the same shoes as other retailers, but just help you find the best fit for your foot. Also, when I started running seriously I was told at my first fitting I was wearing to small of a shoe. Our feet swell when we exercise and need more room to move and breath in the shoe. I wear one full size larger than my everyday shoes and get plenty of support with the laces. It will feel weird at first, but I promise it will feel so much better once you get used to it. Good Luck
