You can try a cortisone injection. If that doesn't help you will need surgery. Go see an orthopedist who specializes in hands. Your doctor sounds a bit clueless with the ointment, sorry.
Have you ever experienced "Trigger Finger"? This happened to me when I was raking the yard about 3 weeks ago, on my thumb. I went to the doctor, and he said it was trigger finger and gave me some ointment to rub on my hand and finger and said it should get better in a few weeks. Well, it still feels the same. So I wanted to know that if you have experienced it, how long till your finger healed? Did you just let it heal on it's own, or did you have to go to a specialist? I have googled this and found not much help, so thought I'd ask you all what your experience was. Any info will help. Thanks!!

My son had trigger thumb when he was 2. It's not something that can be fixed with ointment. We saw an orthopedic doctor. They cast his thumb and first finger spread far apart for two weeks in the hopes that the nodule would slip through the tendon. It didn't work and he had to have surgery. It wasn't a big deal, except that he had to have a cast on his hand for 4 weeks. Good luck!
My mom had to have surgery on both hands for this. But it was really quick and healed very quickly after that. I agree that the ointment will probably not solve anything. Good luck!
I had to have surgery on my trigger finger. It is very simple and only takes a few minutes. You can try the shots in the finger and it will help for a few months but you can only do that so many times. Get a good hand surgeon and go for it.
Good luck
Trigger finger is a problem that is resolved with surgery. The tendon in your finger becomes so inflammed that a nodule can form. This nodule then gets stuck in the tendon sheath, causing a 'triggering' effect. The cortisone injections will reduce the size of that nodule but usually only temporarily. Please seek a hand specialist (an orthopedic surgeon or plastic surgeon). Good luck.
I haven't had trigger finger, but I have a friend who experienced it, and I have had a frozen shoulder. Both of us got results with the same simple nutritional approach. Let me know if you want me to share the details.
