I was wondering if they permitted Trick Or Treating in Raleigh and if so where was a good neighborhood to take little ones? I just moved here last November and so we were still up in our homestate of Vermont for Halloween last year, where I knew alot of people and felt secure in taking her out. We are in North Raleigh and so I was wondering if anyone knew of any neighborhoods which were safe and friendly for young Trick Or Treaters.......

What can I do next?

We just trick or treat in our neighborhood. All the kidsa friends live around here so that's what we do. If you are looking for something different to do try the zoo. They have boo at the zoo going on this weekend and we are taking the kids because we are a blended family and will only have some of our kids on halloween so it gives us a chance to be together. You have a friend or someone you could go with? That would work too.

The BEST place to Trick-or-Treat is Main St. in Wake Forest. I go there every year. It is BIG, beutiful houses and at least 90% of them are all decorated for Halloween. Sometimes even the people giving out candy are dressed up. Most of them sit on their porches so you dont have to ring doorbells all night. The kids can even get a free icecream cone at "The Corner" ice cream shop. It really is great, and feels like Halloween.

The mall is ok, but they tend to give out mostly hard candy.

If you would like directions to WF, let me know, and I can give them to you :)

Although I've never approved of the "going to certain neighborhoods just to trick-or-treat" it's mostly likely because I'm a native & been in the same neighborhood since I was 2 years old (30 years now). But there are churches that have "Trunk & Treat". Which is where the church members and such gather, most likely in the church parking lot, and open their trunks with bags of candy. Then you can feel safe with your children accepting so much candy from people you really don't know. I'm not sure which churches do it ... but I've heard of at least two.
