When we travel with our 21 month old and 38 month old, we have them ride in their carseats. They are used to the fact that that is their special place in the car and that once in, they can't get out. That really helped us. The other thing I did before the trip was I went to the dollar store and picked up a variety of new items to bring out as they became fidgety. Start with familiar items and save the ones you think will get the most interest for last when you are getting despirit. Little books, small animals, coloring/drawing items, puzzles, and cards are good items. Definitely have plenty of snacks and a sippy or 2. Sometimes mine noticed the air pressure change and other times they don't notice it at all. Be sure not to travel if your child has an ear infection - that's just not nice.
