I put my lipstick and drivers license, debit card and cellphone in my pocket.
What else do you have to have?
This might sound silly, but.....do you take your purse on vacation? I take my purse everywhere I go. My husband and I are taking a short weekend trip out of the state for a football game and I need another idea for my important stuff. I do not want to take my purse, it will be too cumbersome. I also don't want my husband to carry my stuff in his wallet (he often loses things and that would be terrible!) Anyway, any advice?

crossbody purse is the answer to most travel issues!
Just did 4000+ miles with my crossbody....it held everything I needed, but kept my hands free. Mine is a Relic, canvas & machine washable. Been using it for busy weekends/trips for 3 years now!
Take a travel purse.
That will sling across your body.
Only take what you need. Not your entire usual purse contents.
You can then carry your Husband's wallet in there too.
AND beware, that there are pickpockets, who know who a "tourist" is or not.
I rarely carry a purse. My wallet fits in my hip pocket. Keys in front right pocket, and I have case that clips onto my belt for my cell phone. I use 24 hour lipstick and so don't need that with me., tho I could put it in my left pocket.
Some of my friends just put their driver's license, credit cards and a few dollars in their pocket. None of us like to carry large purses.
When I don't have enough pockets I carry a small purse that has a lightweight strap that goes across my body.
When we carry a large bag we stuff it with stuff that we might need but rarely do. Just carry the essentials. Makeup, etc. put in a cosmetic bag and leave in your room.
I would get a small cross body purse or bag. I have one as my every day bag & love it!!
I have a smaller purse I take with me with a smaller wallet. The purse goes across my body so I'm hands free and it can't easily get stolen. It basically holds my driver's license, credit card & some cash. My purse holds my wallet, my epi pen and some lip gloss.
I take my Kate Spade backpack purse. It's small, fits what I need and I can wear it in the front in case I'm worried about getting pick pocketed.
I carry a purse everyday, but I don't like to tote it around on vacation. What I usually do is get one of those zipper things, like the size of a makeup bag. I put my drivers license and a credit card in there if I need it, and whatever little things I want. Then if I want to take it with me I can, or I leave it in the room in the hotel if I don't want to take it with me. I agree that carrying a purse is just extra stuff to worry about. And I am the only female in the family, so everyone just says hey can you hold this for me and my purse ends up being 30 pounds so I try not to take it if I can help it.
Depends on what we'll be doing. I my case, I wear presciption sunglasses and have to constantly change back and forth with my regular glassses. Also, I'm the family photographer, so I always have the camera. If I don't need the glasses or the camera, the purse stays home. I have hubby put my driver's license in his wallet.
I hardly ever carry a purse. I just don't find that I need it very often. I have a teeny, tiny wallet that I carry. It contains my driver's license, my debit card and cash. I also have a small change purse that I can put in a pocket. I also carry my cell phone and keys.
I teach during the school year (and dress up then), so during the summer I'm often in Capri's that have pockets. The only time of year I use a purse is when I'm dressing up and it's too warm to wear a coat (that also has pockets for these items).
I've just never felt like I needed to have much else with me most of the time.
They used to have fanny packs. I used one all the time for my important stuff. They had very slim ones that fit right next to the skin. A person could not really see them unless the person was getting something out. Then they had ones that a whole purse could fit in.
They could be worn on the small of the back, slightly to the side on the front or even straight on the front.
If you look around you could find something similar, even something with a shoulder strap. It could be small enough for a few dollars and cards. Unfortunately I have no choice except to take my purse or something I can carry my emergency meds in.
I'm a teeny bit of a purse fiend, so yes, I do take my purse when traveling. But like Sue mentioned below, I take my lightweight crossbody purse. I'll also take a small wristlet that holds my license, charge card, and a few cosmetics and a small comb. I use that when dining out, etc. or when we're on the beach.
I have a small Mountain Equipment Co-op Carry-All Shoulder Bag that I can wear across my body for when a regular purse is too cumbersome. It holds my wallet and a few essentials, but leaves my hands free. I also have a Lug Cablecar Satchel for when I need to carry more.
