Storyland in Glenn Nh just outside of North Conway is a wonderful place for children of those ages. Storyland is a children's themepark. I have fond memories of that place when I was little.
Hi, my family is trying to plan a trip. We are open to anything (a long drive, perhaps even a plane ride...) My kids are young (5 (b),3 (b), 1 (g)) and I am looking for something they would enjoy. Sightseeing is not exactly what I am looking for with 3 active kids. Has anyone been anywhere that the kids really enjoyed? It could be a short/long trip. My husband is going to have a couple of weeks off in between jobs and we want to make the most of this oppurtunity. Thanks in advance for the suggestions!!

We just got back from Sanibel Island, FL!!! Great beaches, so many shells all over the place - my two little girls LOVED it (ages 1 and 4)...
Storyland in Glenn NH is so much fun. There is also Clarks Trading Post, Santa's Village and Whale's Tale Waterpark. The Seasons Condo Resort at Attatash is close to story land and very reasonable. We They have 2 bedroom, 2 full bathroom condo's with full kitchen, dining room, living room and deck for a very reasonable price and you can book on line. There is an indoor pool, arcade, playground and other ammenities for kids.
Also if you plan on going to storyland, you can by your tickets 3:00 or after on one day and they are good the entire next day. So you get 1 1/2 days out of you admission price. Also, children under 3 are free and the food there is reasonably price. We have gone 3-years in a row now and I can't wait to go back there this summer. Good luck with your vacation.
I am a SAHM with a 5-year old and a 2-year old.
I have gone th The Inn at East Hill Farm several times with my kids. It is in Troy NH and they have a website. It is working farm and a bit "down home"...but my kids loved it (my husband however did not...he likes things fancier!) The food is perfect for families and served family style. Every day theree a ton of activities for the kids and farm animals etc. They have entertainment or square dancing at night. They offer story hour, arts and crafts...etc. No phones or TVs in the rooms (which I LOVED). There is an weird indoor pool which I would never go in, but my kids had no problem with it whatsoever! In the summer there is a nice pond with kittle paddle boats and 2 outdoor swimming pools. In the Spring all the baby animals are around which is nice. Your kids can collect eggs in the chicken coop, milk the goats/cows and have a horse back riding lesson and/or pony ride. It is just good old fashioned together time. I would suggest 2 days and 1 night or at the most 2 nights. It's a nice little get away. Oh..it's BYOB. Check out the website, and let me know what you think.
I took my 2 kids to the Bahamas last April and they loved it. My son was 5 and my daughter was 2. We had a blast playing on the beach, riding the bus into town, going to markets and swimming. My now 3 year old still talks about how much fun she had in the "Hamas".
Don't go to Disney... kids just aren't old enough why not find nice things around 100 miles to do with you children... the beach is nice... a nice park... unless you have lots of money stay away for now from Disney as you would really have to have 2 strollers as the 3 yr old isn't going to walk all day and really neither will the 5 yr old.. find things relaxing around the area where you live...
Disney World! This might be a longer/more expensive trip but the kids would love Disney World. They have age appropriate rides, shows, activities, and of course the Disney characters! Good luck finding that perfect vacation.
Niagara Falls is full of fun stuff for kids of all ages. We recently took a trip there it was inexpensive and there was TONS of stuff to do for kids and adults. Indoor water park, interactive museums... etc. I highly recommend it, reminded me of disney/universal studios but a whole lot cheaper and beautiful scenery. If you go stay on the Canadian side of the falls, thats where all the fun stuff is, the American side is boring and Buffalo NY can be sketchy in certain areas.
We went to the six flags animal adventure park in N.J> where you do a drive thru safari, we went with my daughter about 6 at the time, my husband and his parents. My inlaws have mobility problems so this was great. the animals come right up to the cars. My daughter was jumping up and down especially when the giraffe tried to stick his head in the window. From there we went to Seaseme Place. she had fun but was getting a little to old to be there.
Disney is such a great family vacation!!! One piece of advice - rent a house. Their are a ton to pick from. It's much cheaper in the long run. You can make a nice breakfast in the morning, and pack snacks in a backpack for latter. When the kids need to crash in the afternoon, you can relax in your OWN pool. When it's time for bed, they can to to their own bedrooms, while you swim, or read a book or watch TV. And you don't have to pack as much clothing as you can do a load of laundry at the house you're renting, and have clean clothes again. Have fun deciding where to go.
Definitely not Disney with your age children. We did that, regretfully at that age. We went several other times when they were older.
Take day trips, that way they and you can sleep in their own beds at night and that is always a better thing when they are little. Beach(we love playing near the rocks), parks, petting farm, children's museum, zoo, aquarium.....going to a park for a picnic and a game of kicking a ball around with daddy is the best!! Tenting in the backyard is fun as well or just camping in the living room with a fun movie and popcorn!
