Do you love your coffee mug? I need something insulated, preferably leak proof, fits into a car cupholder, and isn't expensive. Is there such thing?

I totally second Elianine's suggestion of the Contigo coffee mugs. I couple of years ago I handed them out as Christmas presents to like 10 people. I researched mugs for months....my husband thought I was absolutely bonkers! However, everybody that I have given them to has raved about them, and many have said it's the best mug they've ever gotten. They also make great kids bottles too!!!!

Starbucks has really nice "tall" travel mugs. I'm still using two that I got last year at Christmas time.....love them.

I love mine! They are guaranteed, so if they do break, they will replace them (but not the lids). Keeps my tea hot for a looong time, and also keep cold drinks cold.

I bought mine at Bed, Bath, & Beyond.

We have two of these:
http://www.amazon.com/Contigo-AUTOSEAL-Stainless-20-Ounce...

They are great! Picked them up from Costco about a year ago, two for $20 (not positive, but seems like I saw them again there within the last month or so). My husband uses one of them every day. If he doesn't finish his coffee during his commute, it will STILL be warm when he dumps it out at home after his long day & commute. They've been through the dishwasher a million times & show no wear. We've liked these so much that we bought two of their kids' water bottles for our daughter to use at school. Hope that helps!

I am thinking of ordering one called Brugo that I saw on the Today Show. It has a separate chamber to cool your drink before you take a sip. Then when the whole mug cools a little, you can bypass the cooling chamber. It's $20, but it got good reviews, and I love super hot tea/coffee, but hate that first scalding sip!

Surprisingly I got my travel coffee cup from 7-11. My husband bought it on a whim for me about 3-4 years ago and it has held up to continuous use and fits nicely in all cup holders. It keeps drinks hot for at least 4 hours, or more depending on temperature of the car. It was about $4.

I used to have a Thermos stainless steel mug - stainless on the inside and outside(the stainless steel needs to be on the INSIDE if you want it to stay really hot - not the knock off stainless on the outside to make it look cool). That really kept my coffee hot for a long time. However, my only problem is that it cannot be put in the dishwasher and all the plastic parts (lid and top of the cup) really start smelling. SO I recently bought the recycled Aladdin brand travel mug from Target. It is 10 bucks and works really well. It is also microwaveable, so I can stick my mug in for a few seconds if I haven't guzzled it already :) The only thing is that it is tall and narrow and gets to be a little top heavy. It has fallen out of my cup holder once or twice, but did not leak if the lid was closed.

Good luck!!

Been shopping for a replacement for my husband... I don't care for most of the choices out there. Many years ago (like probably 9 years?) we snagged a double walled stainless steel one at Barnes and Nobles. It cost $16, and at the time I thought about getting 2, but thought it was a little pricey, so I didn't. It has a really nice rubberized grip that runs around it where you hold it to drink, so your hands don't burn on the hot stainless. It has a single piece plastic top with a simple slide opening. It fits perfectly into hubby's deep cup-holders (it gets wider at the top, so it isn't super tall either). It has begun to wear and get banged up after years of getting dropped and rolling around in his car floorboard when empty, etc.

Everyone I pick up to consider, has plastic inside. Or is huge and won't fit in a normal cupholder. OR has a HANDLE. Which he doesn't like and probably will interfere with his cupholder (deep, did I mention that?)....

Such a pain. I shoulda bought 3 way back when.... :(
I did find something that might do the job last week at a college bookstore. Only time will tell... when he opens it under the tree... lol

Thermos makes a tall skinny one with a top that seals! It's stainless on the inside and comes in a couple of colors on the outside. I got it at Target and love it!!!! I've had tea in it for close to 10 hours and it's still warm when I dump it out. I love the fact that the top locks and does not leak and believe me I've dumped it upside down. I also like that the outside stays cool. It holds 2 cups which is plenty to get me through my morning!

I have a TON of them, want one? LOL, kinda kidding but you are in IL and it is doable. I have 6 from Disney resorts that are great, 5 or 6 McDonalds ones from the 90s, a few metal ones, etc.
