I may be the only parent in the world who doesn't know about Transformers, but are they good guys or bad guys? I thought they were good, but then someone told me some were good and some were bad.

What can I do next?

We are a huge fans of the transformers. The first one was great but the second one, not kid friendly at all. I would NOT suggest to take any children under 11 or even a little older. I was VERY disapointed in the language and some of the content. You can get cartoons of it which are very nice on dvd. My son is going to be 8 and is a HUGE transformers fan. Do not take your little one to see the 2nd one... you will regret it. If you want go to see it alone and judge it for your self before sharing the experience with him. Like Optimus says, Autobots transform and roll out :)

Right now the only shirts my 4 year old son will wear are bummblebee and optimus prime. Some are good, some are bad. They battle each other sort of thing. My son has never seen a transformers show or movie, but he still loves them!

My son is going through the Transformers-mania phase. He as pretty much all kids loves Optimus Prime and Bumblebee unless he wants to "fight" with me, then he is Megatron (leader of the bad guys) hahahahaha. I have seen the 2 movies and actually loved them, It's OK because It teaches you about the right and the wrong things to do and to be perseverant in doing the right thing. There is also the animated version of Transformers which my almost 5 years old loves too. You can watch it on Cartoon Network @ 6 am. My son watches the animated on youtube because honestly, 6 am is kind of early...

The Autobots are the good guys, and the Deceptacons are the bad guys. My 4yo's faves are Bumblebee and Optimus Prime, both good guys. He never saw the movies, but loves the toys.

Ditto on all responses. We loved the first movie. This was really was our first time in to real action movies with our 5 year old and fighting scenes. There is some light language in the first one that I didn't even notice until after about the 20th time of watching it. My husband took our son to see the second one and wished that he hadn't. Like a previous post he was shocked by the amount of bad language and sexual content. There is a good cartoon movie of them that we let him watch too. Local video stores carry them.

Good luck!

Hi S., My 5 year old has loved transformers since he was 4. There are good and bad transformers. The bad guys are cepticons and the good guys are autobots. The older transformer movie was pretty good. Trent enjoyed it. I've been told that the new transformer movie is a bit rough for kids so we haven't allowed Trent to see that one. We usually watch the movie's first or research them on line before we allow him to watch this sort of movie. We found the transformers that don't have all the little pieces that can be removed doesn't work well for a 5 year old. But the transformers that change into vehicles without removing parts, but just rearranging some parts, is easier not only for Trent but for us. We don't step on as many little pieces or find the parts in our dogs mouths. :-) L.

Transformers have been around for years. My nephew who is in his 30 had every transformer you could imagine when he was growing up. There are good ones and bad ones. Like in Batman and Robin, Spiderman, etc.... My husband and daughters watched Transformers and Transformers 2 and as far as I am concerned they are not fit movies for small children. My husband said kids should not be allowed to watch them. Maybe the cartoons are ok, not sure, haven't watched them. I never did like the transformers. They are not a good role model for children. My nephew is always in trouble. Might not be because of the transformers, but then it could be. He used to immitate them when he was little. Check them out, do your research and make your own judgement. One of my nephews was not allowed to play with transformers because his Dad and Mom said they were not fit for children. He turned out great. Each person has to make their own judgement on what their child should or shouldn't be involved with. Every child is different. Good Luck!!1

Yes, some are good & some are bad. If you are thinking about taking your 5 yr old to see the new movie I would think twice. Much language & some sexual content. We would NEVER have thought a disney movie would be that bad but we took our 7 yr old son & if we knew we never would have. Back in my day this would have been rated R. From now on I'll find out beforehand. It is a good movie though (for us parents).

I used to watch the cartoon show as a kid. It goes waaaaaaay back! Autobods are the good guys and deceptos are the bad. I loved the transformers and my sibs had quite a few of the "toys" back in the day.

However, the cartoon wasn't anything like what hit the theaters (even the new G-Force movie has some Transformers action in it) ....

We saw the first movie and let our kids see it. We even own that DVD. Unfortunately, we didn't screen the second and went to see it as a family ( I have a 10 year old and a 5 year old -girls)! Holy Cow! Aside from being TOO long and TOO loud, it was sexual, had curse words in it and was very, very violent. My 5 year old sat with her fingers in her ears and covered her eyes a lot. I tried to cover my 10 year old's eyes and ears at certain parts.

I know you didn't ask for a movie review here, sorry to rant but I was pretty bummed that they had to reduce a good premise for a movie to sex and swear words to generate mass appeal!
