I am planning on buying my sons (2 and 4) a train table for Christmas. Any recommendations? I am only looking to buy a table, not the ones where train sets are included. Thanks.

I went to a second hand furniture store and bought a nice sturdy wood coffee table for $20. I sanded it down and painted it blue. On the top, I painted an island with beige sandy beaches then mostly green with sponge painted tree tops in areas - an aerial view. My son is 8 now, the trains are long gone, but he still has the table is his room to play Bablades and Bakugon on!
We got the Imaginarium one from Toys R US, comes with lots of stuff-only problem is that we tried to glue the tracks down and it didnt work. I think its on sale at Toys R us now-the Thomas trains fit on the tracks also.
The "Imaginarium" brand from Toys R Us.
My son has that... since he was 2 years old... it is AWESOME and WAY better than those Thomas train series.
It has held up VERY well, is not even broken or worn yet.. and my son plays on it everyday.
AND the accessories that comes with it as a set... is VERY good.
I highly recommend this train table!
Oh... but you are only wanting the table.. not trains/sets?
Well at Toys R Us as well... they have the "Imaginarium" train TABLE.. only. You can see it online... and check it out

The Imaginarium brand makes good things.
All the best,
Susan
We had two--Thomas and Imaginarium. They both held up equally well, and my son loved BOTH of them--he didn't care that O. was not a "Thomas table" (the O. at grandmas) Get whatever is the cheapest, best deal.
