If they say no to a refund, ask if they'd be willing to give you a store credit or exchange it for something else.
Has anyone ever had any luck returning something to Toys R Us after 90 days? We have a receipt and all the original packaging. The item is still in new condition, but today is 93 days past purchase. My husband is going to still try, but I have a feeling we may be s.o.l. I know they are picky on returns. Just wondering if it ever worked for anyone.
Just an update. My husband was able to return it for a refund. He is way more persuasive than me. I guess it never hurts to ask.

with a receipt, the original packing, and a pleasant demeanor, i'll bet they comply. of course they don't have to, but most stores want to accommodate customers when the requests are reasonable and courteous.

I put this in the category of "it can't hurt to ask". I think as long as you are polite and friendly to the person behind the counter, they may make an exception.
I don't return things often, but even with the receipt and well within the time limit, I have received some attitude from Toys R Us. They really are picky on their returns, aren't they... this is one of the main reasons why I don't shop there anymore.
Good luck- let us know how it turns out!
I'd assume they will be reasonable, and ask nicely. Stores are hurting and managers want to keep customers. I would expect they would give a store credit instead of cash back, but that's more than reasonable. If the toy has been opened and cannot be returned to saleable condition (whether you HAVE the packaging or not), then the answer would be "no" whether it's 3 days or 93.
Mom:
They may offer a store credit instead of a full return.
I don't know why you are returning it...broken...etc.? My guess is if you have a problem with the product, with your receipt and packaging...they may take it back...if it's not broken and they won't take it? Donate it.
No harm in trying, but why do you think you are exempt from the terms of purchase? Keeping something that long sort of indicates you used it as long as you could and now want a refund.
If they don't take it back, and it's in great shape, sell it on craigs list or ebay.
It's probably going to depend on which employee happens to help you on that particular day. Some may be lenient, and some may not. You won't really know until you try.
And, yes, you do get more bees with honey, so make sure he goes in there with a good attitude. Self deprecating, even... he could play the "dad" card and might be able to work it that way.
Good luck!
Guess it depends on why you are returning. Broken or opened it and changed your mind.
I hate Toys R Us customer service. I sincerely doubt it. Took me 6 months to work out a solution with them.
Depending on the item they might tell you to go through the manufature if its defective. Of like you said tell you your S.O.L.
I would say it all depends on who you get. Some people will be sticklers and others will pay no attention at all.
If they won't take it, you may want to try again without the receipt and say it was a gift. You won't get as much money for it if it has gone on sale, but it would be better than nothing.
