Hi all!
Just wanted some suggestions on toys to put out back on our patio. I have a 2 1/2 year old and a 14 month old and we live in a townhouse...so not a ton of space. We already have a sand and water table that is now a sand table, so I am going to buy a table that is just for water. Any other ideas/suggestions would be great.
Thanks!

My son is 22 months has 2 lawn mowers and plays with both of them constantly! He's absolutely LOVES his tricycle and big wheel. He has some tonka trucks that are "outside only" (and some that are inside only).
He also loves to "help" with raking and digging in the garden.

Oh, you're from my home town - miss it!

We do have a big patio space, but last year, we purchased a play house (KidKraft from Costco) for our kids' birthdays. They love it! It's probably 4 feet X 4 feet and has tons of accessories on it for all kinds of different play.

We also have a little slide that they love going up and down repeatedly. Our kids were the same age as yours last year, and they had a blast.

We also purchased an outdoor chest for our patio into which we put all their loose, miscellaneous toys and can clean them up quickly/protect them from the elements year round.

My boys really like the small plastic kiddie pools. We use them for everything, not just swimming. Some examples: birthday party gift searches (fill it up with small toys and crumpled tissue paper so the kids have to dig to find toys). They also really love very small tricycles, fire trucks, etc. Those were always a hit. Other than that, the classics: balls, baseball bats (kid-friendly ones, of course!), and things like that.

Have fun!

I love doing art outside so an art easel would be nice.

Maybe a basket with various types of bubble blowers and a big container of bubbles?

Do you have room for a tiny kiddie pool they could splash in?

How about a big flower pot or some type of planter that you and they can plant some seeds in, water, and watch grow? Could be veggies, plants, flowers, etc. Kids love to plant and see things grow.

How about the grill play set, made by either Step 2 or Little Tikes, can't remember which, maybe both make one... then they could 'play grill' outdoors...

What surface is your patio? How about some sidewalk chalk? There are just endless possibilities what you can do with chalk... create a road that they can use cars and trucks on, draw pictures, learn letters and numbers, etc.

And we keep our smaller outdoor toys in a storage bin with a lid, so it keeps the stuff protected from the weather, and doesn't take up too much space.

I'm still trying to think of some of the other things my son has now or has had when he was a little smaller (he's 4). If I think of anything else, I'll add it... :)

I second the lawn mower- my son uses his every day. Actually in the winter we turned it into a snowblower and he helped daddy. He's had it for a year now and still loves it. The bubble blower one. Also some kids sports equiptment- we have a bball hoop, small baseball glove w/ velcro baseball, kickball, plastic golf clubs/balls, small bikes/trikes, small slide... endless possiblities!!!

We also live in a town house. We actually have a swingset in our back yard. It has 2 swings, a seesaw swing, a slide, and the double seat swing. We have it set up to one side. We didn't think it would fit, but it did. Anyways they also have a sandbox. Their bikes, a basketball hoop (screwed to the fence). We have a big storage bin right out side our back door to put all thier little toys: ex: balls, kid freindly bats, thier trucks, toys for the sand box. Oh by the way we have two boys; 3 and 4. :P They also have a plastic easle that stays outside which they use chalk on or they use the chalk on the patio. Just have to make sure they pick it all up (the chalk), so they don't get wet when it rains. I know it sounds like alot, but our back yard is pretty organized. They had a flimzy kiddie pool, till I hit it with the weed eater. :P We plan on getting a hard plastic one this year when it starts staying warm.
