Toyota Minivan Mamas!

We looked at minivans this weekend and we're now debating between the Honda and the Toyota. The one feature of the toyota that is really hanging me up is the new dual dvd player. Does anyone have a 2011 with this new dvd player? The thing is so long and looks odd! How does it look when it's playing one dvd? I know it's widescreen, but does it look really super stretched out? That might be so weird for my dd to watch like that. Just wondering what you think of it. :) Thanks!

What can I do next?

I have a 2009 Sienna that I got in 2008 - have had it 2 years now and absolutely love it. I felt that the Sienna had much better acceleration and that was important to me as I drive highway daily.

We didn't get a DVD player on purpose as our son did not watch TV at all until after age 2 and even now, age 4, is limited to 45 minutes daily. We were the only people we knew who purposely didn't get the installed DVD player. We figured if we ever wanted it, we would buy a portable - still haven't done that but our son knows a tone of songs and nursery rhymes and car games!

I know 2 mamas who got mini-vans at the same time as me and both have broken DVD players. One got the Odyssey and the other got the Town and Country.

M., I am so sorry to respond to this since I don't have a Toyota minivan, but I wanted to respond anyway. :) I do have a Lexus ES330 (made by Toyota) and although my car was not included in the recall, there have been plenty of cases outlined where it was my make and model... Bascially, I don't know why my car has not been recalled. I am now considering trading in my car. I just feel that Toyota has not been producing the quality cars it once did and to be very honest, you could not PAY me to buy one of their cars again. From my understanding, Honda recently recalled some of their vehicles, but please keep in mind the extent of the Toyota recall.

Regardless of what you do, good luck with your purchase! :)

I don't know about Toyota, but I have a Honda odyssey. I absolutely LOVE it! It is the best traveling machine. I could go on and on and will if you want,(just let me know) but it just comes down to one thing; I am as in love with it as I was the first week I had it! :)
Good luck

I'd recommend taking the Odyssey for a LONG test drive if you're really interested in it.

We got a new Pilot a few weeks ago and have had serious issues with the transmission. They're actually putting us in a new car this week because it's been such an issue. They've made the transmission (at least in the Pilot) so complicated between 3-6 cylinders for maximum fuel efficiency, that it rides really rough.

All of our friends/neighbors with Odyssey's LOVE them (including those that have the DVD players).

We opted not to look at Toyotas because of the recall issues even though the models we were interested in were not affected.

Hope that helps. Good luck!

With all of the safty recalls on Toyota made vehicals there is no way in H*** that I would buy one! I know that the vans have not had any problems YET but it is only a matter of time. Something to think about while you are shopping. We have a Grand Caravan and love it! My Friend has a Town and Country and loves hers as well. Plus if you buy American it will haelp our economy!
