I'm looking for some ideas for toys that are a "hit" for a boy that will be 19 months old at Christmas time.

What can I do next?

My son is about the same age, and if you're looking for something a little different, they sell these fun little chairs at Target. It's like his own little chair he can sit in to look at his books or just lay back. He loves it. Here is a link of the Elmo version of the chair.

My son is 18 months and I hear hear the Zebra is the #1 hot seller of the season. Also- the fisher price Door and/or Chair and Table set are great. They have lights to turn on and everything plays music or sings. My son set up a little fort behind his door and has his own private space. We are getting the Table and Chair for him for Christmas. All the kids we know at this age just LOVE those.

J.,

I agree with everyone else about the Thomas trains being a great gift. However, these are a bit expensive. I don't know where you live, but if you live in the Chicago, Cut-rate toys has Thomas trains marked down 30% off retail all the time. Also IKEA has some realy cool wooden toys for this age group.

I agree with the Thomas trains. Also Leap Frog makes excellent fun educational toys and Fisher Price makes a lot of fun toys. Can't go wrong with any of those for our boys at least! :) My sons are currently 1 & 2 years old.

Maybe the peekablocks wagon, or the new train one. My son loved pulling the wagon around.

Definitely one of those small ride on cars, the kind they scoot themselves on. Good for an in house winter toy if you have the space, and good for next summer.

Little tap keys piano.

Any kind of ball, esp. the ones with textures.

Melissa & Doug Puzzles, wood ones or ones with open & close doors.

Oversize truck, bus, airplane. They have some of the trucks that have a handle on the top to carry it around or help them hold on to it when they push it on the floor.

good luck!

Have you seen the new Fisher Price Zebra? It is good for a child up to 40lbs. and looks like a lot of fun, especially for a climbing and bouncing boy :) Also, there is the Sing & Giggle Elmo Toolbench that looks cute.

Just some ideas. Hope that helps!

all things Thomas. I'm on my 3rd little boy and the trains/tracks/books/videos/hats etc are still going strong. My twin 20 month olds currently each carry a train around like it's a teddy bear and sleep with their trains. You can't go wrong there!
