If he is eating and eating good foods then leave the boy be. We have enough fat kids in this world!
My son is 4yrs old and weighs about 34lbs.. he is tall and quite skinny, you can see his ribs, etc; however he is totally healthy and rarely gets sick other than your typical sniffles and colds during the cold season. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to "beef him up" ???

if his dr isnt worried then you shouldnt be either. but if you insist on trying to plump him up a little then try a high calorie diet (but with good foods not junk). but i think as long as he is active and is eating well (not like a bird) then he is probably ok. good luck!
My friend's daughter is also quite small and was told to try to fatten her up. Her doctor, honestly, recommended cooking with more butter and eating fattening foods like ice cream. You can also continue with whole milk and full fat yogurt and cheese for extra fat and calories. Avocado and nuts contain a lot of healthy fats. Your doctor should be able to make some good recommendations.
Here's one site I found: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/fat/NU00262
