Too Much Tanning?

Is it just me or does that woman accused of tanning her child look disgusting?

I thought there was something wrong with my computer screen when I saw her face.

What can I do next?

Sam E I grew up in Jersey so I know all about the nuts there, lol. They all seem to get on the TV not the normal people.

I thought it was funny that she was compared to an umpa lumpa. I would have called CPS too if one of her children came in sunburned, I am sure all the staff at the schools know what she looks like. This is a very sad addiction I hope she can get help before someone uses her hide for a pair of shoes and a matching handbag.

When I first saw her pic in the news, I seriously thought she had smeared chocolate syrup all over her face. When talking about how she would never let her 5 yo in a tanning bed, she said, "I'm not dumb."

I thought: Oh. Thanks for clearing THAT up.

We were talking about it at work and one of my coworkers said she looks like Robert Downey in Tropic Thunder. It was funny because it was true! :)

OMG...here we go again with New Jersey. Why do they always find the crazy people to put on TV? Nutley, no pun intended, (sorry, Sam, teehee) is where this lady is from. I promise there aren't that many nuts in Nutley, or in NJ for that matter.

She should have found a better lie to tell rather than her daughter has sunburn from playing outside. Um, it's been no more than 60 degrees here lately, with an odd 70-75 degree day here and there. There is no way in the world....

The mom has a real mental problem. She has an addiction like any other addiction. When I saw the article I was like "Please don't let her be from Jersey" and of course she was!! No wonder people have such a negative impression of our state. I sure did before I moved here!

The thing that gets me about how she looks is why doesn't her husband or friends tell her how bad she really looks?!?

I know if a friends of mine or my husband looked like that I would say something!!

The salon where she goes said that she buys the unlimited monthly package and spends x amount of hours a month tanning ( I don't remember the amount they said) but it equals out to going 5 times a week.

She needs help for herself.

I laughed so hard, my friend compared her to a Chocolate Fruit Roll up and then I thought at the same time she looked like a bad DQ chocolate twist cone. Then I thought YUCK I am comparing her to food. I will refrain from munching on her head.

You cant honestly tell me some of that OCD tanning biz is NOT rubbing off on the kid. Just having to be in the same room as a standing tanning booth is child endangerment. Ever read the story of the woman who's 2 year old got caught in the chiropractors table and was crushed to death? This kid is exposed even if shes not dragged into it, she has to be there. By the looks of the kids skin tone and type, she wouldnt last 2 minutes in that cooker with out some sort of serious burn.

JO!!! OMG After my chocolate cone comment that was the exact same thing next out of my mouth. SHE NEEDS to watch TROPIC THUNDER.... Tugg Speedman

Today on a TV show a host used the term "tanorexia." As in, someone who truly cannot control the urge to do this; who feels anxious and upset and all wrong if she misses a session; who sees herself in the mirror--even with her skin that we all know is beyond belief--and still says, "I'm too pale." We can criticize her all we like (and it is indeed hard to understand how anyone can look at herself and not see the problem) but she is truly very, very ill. I hope maybe this media attention will somehow encourage someone in her family to drag her to a psychiatrist.

And I hope that she gets that mental help -- and a LOT of frequent cancer screenings -- sooner rather than later, before her kids grow up thinking they, too should look this way.

Some of the blogs were commenting on her calling her things like Leatherface's mother and saying she reminded them of the vaudeville "blackface" actors. No matter what I think it is sad that she chose to do this to herself and her skin, I think she needs some serious mental help and has a disease, in addition she is begging to have serious health side effects. I also think it is neglegent of the tanning salon to allow her to do this to herself - honestly is that what you want promoting your salon?

I think it's too much crazy. Looks like she smeared nutella on her face. Even IF her daughter was not put in the tanning bed, the woman clearly has mental issues. I think it's best authorities are involved. I mean, what are the chnaces her daughter won't grow up with some kind of body dysmorphia issues? Or, motherless. The woman won't live long, I'm afraid.

She is what the human form of chupacabra looks like in my mind. There's got to be some sort of psychosis there. I think she is going to spawn a whole new branch of psychiatry. They will be studying this lady for years to come!

Oh My! that looks absolutely awful.
But then there's a whole range of products to bleach/whiten skin and it's all the rage in India and some other Asian countries.
It can create a kind of kabuki look (looks like stage makeup or the walking dead depending on your point of view).
Why can't people be happy with the skin color they have got?
If people were spotted like leopards or striped like zebras, do you think they'd celebrate their uniqueness or would they worry themselves to death about clashing with plaid?

Lol, that lady looked like burnt biscuits. I do think she is being selectively prosecuted because of her look, I doubt the school would call the police on me if my dd showed up sunburned. She does look super scary though.
