My two month old loves to be swaddled! She can't really sleep without it, and
I even have to swaddle her in the car seat. The problem is, it's really hot and our apartment doesn't have AC and we don't have the funds to get one. So, how do I keep her cool and swaddled at the same time? And what do I do when we're out and about? I'm not sure that there is an answer to my problem, but it's worth a try.
So, thankfully it hasn't been too hot lately. When it does, I just let her be naked and use a small blanket to wrap up her arms. She likes that just fine. I'm going to go to the fabric store and get some REALLY light fabric and make a blanket for her for when it gets really hot. Thank you for all your help. You guys have some great ideas.
I have seen some gauze-like swaddling blankets at RightStart (behind U Village here in Seattle). They look like they would breathe nicely. I wasn't able to find the same ones online, but here is a similar blanket: http://www.solanababywear.com/
You could also try calling the store to see if they would mail it to you, assuming you don't want to make the trip.

maybe sleep her in just a diaper and swaddle in a light blanket with a fan in the room to keep her cool?

Cut up a cotton sheet. Get a fan. Lots of extra fluids. You could try just swaddling her arms and leaving her legs free. Try google for some different swaddle techniques. There is a swaddling book called baby gami? I think or something like that.

When I was in TX with my 3 month old in March (it was really hot), I just used a diaper and a cotton bundle-me swaddle wrap and that seemed to work fine.
Make sure that your little one is feeding as usual. Making sure they have wet diapers is very important. Try and keep them in the shade or indoors as much as possible. You can also put your little one in a luke warn bath or little pool with warm water to help keep them cool. Also, wet some washcloths or rags with cold water and apply frequently to baby's face, neck and feet. Remove any extra padding in the bed to allow for air to circulate. Open windows to create a cross breeze. Fans are useful but dont put them directly on the baby. Hang wet towels over chairs or windows to cool the air. (The evaporating water causes cooling). Keep curtains drawn during the day to prevent the sun from heating up the room. Try not to hold your baby a lot when your outside. It makes you and baby hot. Use a stroller or buggy. They say a sleeper is usually good enough and not to worry about blankets well you can do just the opposite. Have just the diaper and use the blanket. A very light onesie may be good too. They have such delicite skin that you don't want the little rolls they have to get irritated.
Since a babies room is best and they are most comfortable when their room is between 61 and 68 you can put a thermometer in the room so you can keep an eye on it and make sure it isnt to hot. Also, you can check your babies temperature to make sure they are not to hot.
If you feel comfortable going out...the airconditioned car is a saving few minutes out of the heat. You can also go get some things done like grocery shopping. The store is cool and you can have them take a nap while shopping. Also, there are small coffee shops like the Spotted Cow in Mill Creek that are comfortable to just sit, have a lemonade, let them sleep and your 2 year old can play in a little play area with toys.

I live in Tx and my baby is 2 months old. He sleeps alot better when he is swaddled up, but it is too hot to be outside and swaddled up. Maybe you can use a very thin blanket when you swaddled. But i just keep him inside were it's cool. But you dont have Ac, so you should invest in a nice fan to keep you and the baby cool.
