So, yucky question of the day...do you clean yours? How? When mine start looking gross I throw them out and buy new ones but wonder what "normal" people do or if that is the normal thing to do???!!! LOL!!!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Jane, I know, right??!! I don't, I just buy new ones, is that what everyone does? Or do they just leave them sitting there looking all disgusting??

OH!!! I never thought to have the plunger anywhere but next to the toilet! It sits on its own little holder thing but its all dusty and gross looking. And the brush is in its own holder too, I do sqiurt a bleach cleaner on it and rinse it off every once in awhile but it seems easier to just buy a new one every 6 months or so. Thanks for the replies so far!!!

I buy the disposable toilet brush so it doesn't have to live anywhere or be cleaned! The plunger lives in a black garbage bag in a dark corner of the garage until needed, then goes right back in unless terribly disgusting. Then it gets hosed off in some corner of the yard...

I no longer have a toilet brush but a toilet wand. It's made by Clorox and you use disposable heads for it. I just keep the plastic handle piece under the bathroom sink and it's clean and out of sight.

I'm pretty green when it comes to most things but the toilet brush just really grossed me out as well...the toilet wand has solved that problem for me. A little more money but totally worth it.

I put the plunger on an upside down butter tub lid behind the toilet. It's a disposable one from Walmart but it works more than once. It was just a couple of dollars so it's easily tossed if needed. It'\ has a white handle and a light green plunger part. So it matches the decor in the bathroom and sort of blends in. After using it I rinse it with very hot water in the shower then clean the shower normally.

As for the toilet bowl brush, it's not like I am using for anything other than cleaning a toilet bowl so it does not get cleaned. Just rinsed in the shower with very hot water occasionally.

Funny you should ask, as I cleaned my bathroom today and was wondering about my "utensils".
I find that if I pour a good amount of bleach in the toilet and run my toilet brush and plunger through it, it cleans them quite nicely. I only replace the toilet brush thingy when the bristles get jacked up and not worth a hoot no mo.

The plunger lives in the garage with DH's tool collection, so that's his domain. But it's a plunger, so I'm sure it's disgusting.

My cleaning ladies are here now so I asked them if/how they clean the toilet brush, and they just stared at me. So yeah, I'm thinking the toilet bowl cleaner cleans the toilet brush as much as it's going to get cleaned...

I will clean mine every once in a while and put it in a big bucket full of bleach and cleaner--let it sit for awhile.

I use a Rubba Scrubba toilet brush from Flylady. It's fantastic! Instead of having a bunch of little teeny tiny needles for stuff to get stuck in (gross) it has large rubber bristles that are spread out. After I swish the toilet, I can literally see that everything got rinsed off and clean and if not, I just run it under the bathtub spout for a few seconds. So I don't throw mine out because it's always clean. The plunger head gets wrapped loosely in a bag under the sink and we've had it forever. I just toss the bag but honestly, that's clean too because I rinse it off thoroughly after use.

My plunger sits in a butter dish behind the toilet. ( with 5 boys... one being a toddler who uses too much toilet paper... it gets used on a regular basis)

My bruch I rinse it out when Im done cleanign the toilet, but once it starts to look funky I throw it out and buy a new cheap one.

I have the Clorox Wand as well as a toilet brush. I replace them every few years because they do get worn....to "wash" them? I put Pine Sol or Spic and Span in the toilet and swish it around. I make sure that when I put it away it doesn't have "stuff" on it.

The plunger? It's in the garage with Bob's tool. When we are finished using it - I spray Clorox Clean Up on it so that it doesn't get stinky.

i've never in my life cleaned either lol. i kinda figure that since i'm using the toilet brush to clean the toilet, by the time i'm done it's about as clean as the toilet so i've never seen anything gross in it. yes, i replace it but only when the bristles get all smooshed. i buy the cheapo ones so they don't last too long....does that count for anything!?! lol!

as for the plunger it gets used once in a blue moon and hides behind the toilet. i'm not using it for anything else (EW!?) lol so i don't even think about it.

martha stewart i ain't! :)

I felt like you and discovered the toilet wand. You buy the wand and replace the head for each toilet. They work well and aren't nasty. I have a plunger in the garage, but have used it only a couple of times. We just turn off the water if it starts rising and then get the plunger.

I don't use a toilet brush. I got tired of them getting gross so I use the Clorox Toilet Wand. Just attach the pad, scrub and toss in the trash. Totally hands free. Our plunger is in a bucket in the garage.

Hmm, they do get worn out over time, but what do you mean by looking gross? I mean whenever they get used it's with bleach and/or some kind of cleaning product and they are rinsed and clean before they go back under the sink.
By gross do you mean yours are not cleaned off and rinsed before you put them away? (That WOULD be gross, lol!)
