Toilet Bowl Cleaning Disaster! Need Help Immediately!

I have a rather serious problem with my main bathroom's toilet. My boys are notorius for not flushing. As I don't use that room and due to some of their more disgusting boy habits, I make them or my husband clean it. Big mistake! Now the bowl is in bad shape. It is crusty and brown. How do I get this out? Acid? Sand blasting? And now I have a home inspection by my landlord coming up very soon. YIKES! Does anybody have any more reasonable suggestions? I would appreciate it!

Hugs, Kat

So What Happened?

We tried both Kaboom and Easy Off Bathroom Cleaner and I put my strapping teenaged son to work scrubbing it with a pumice stone. He got a LOT out, but not all. We plan to put a can of Coke in there next, but it will have to be after Spring break when the boys are not home all day! I'll keep you informed of how it goes, but I think the can of Coke might work well to get the rest of it!

K.,

First pour some bleach in there and let it sit for a while. Then you need a pumous stone. You can find one in the cleaning aisle usually but if not it is in the nail care aisle, one that you would use on your feet will work fine. Scrub on the stains with it and they will come off. It might take a bit of work but it definately does the trick! I had hard water stains on my toilets and was able to get them off after a couple sessions. Hope this helps.

I actually had a toilet get bad like that when I had another couple living with us and just assumed that they would keep "their" bathroom clean...obviously a very wrong assumption. I got desperate and tried a metal cleansing pad (like a steel wool pad) and found that it worked like a charm. It required a bit of work, but I got that nasty ring around the water line completely off. Hope that helps you out...good luck!

Kaboom works great. Be careful with pumice stones they will scrath the toilet.

Do you remember reading about the can of Coke that cleans the hard water stains off? Well, we tried it and it works. Pour a can of coke in and let it sit for the day. The coke will eat the stains right off the sides... (Imagine what it does to your stomach)

Pumice stones work great! You can find them at Walmart or Target in the beauty/bath section. Just put on your latex gloves and scrub away. It's not fun, but it is effective (I used to clean houses for a living and this worked great on all hard water stains, etc.) Good luck!

I'm not sure, but I think I remember someone telling me that you can use a pumice stone to get those stains out. Good luck!
