We had this with my son at three. He told us his toe hurt quite often. We had it checked out by the doctor and also had his feet measured. Nothing was wrong and the shoes fit fine. I think it was just something he liked to say. Eventually he stopped talking about it.

He might have hit it on something and sprained it or it could be growing pains. If he keeps complaining I would take him in to have it checked. Have a Happy New Year and I hope your little guy feels better soon.

What PART of the toe? Is it near the nail... Check for any hang nails, ingrown corners, etc. Also if you cut them too short it can hurt to have socks on.

Yes, he may have bumped it, stepped on something, or could even have a splinter in it...

Does his toe have a calous or harder area on the outer side of it? Check the WIDTH and not just the length of his shoes... Also, sometimes on shoes the place that the sole connects to the upper can seperate and have a ledge that will rub the sides.

If it continues to hurt in a week, then have a dr look at it...

Don't forget his socks could be too small also. If not, could it be the seam in his socks is bothering him? They can be very irritating.

Like someone else said, though, the first thing I would check for is an ingrown (or in "growing") tonail and make sure you are not cutting his toenails too short.

As we cannot see it, we cannot really diagnose or really relate too much to this. I for one have issues with a toe pain, but I have no reason for it. It could be simple overuse or poor body balance and I am over compensation on one side as I have had much trauma to one side of my body.

I would recommend that you consult a physician as if it is an ingrown toenail - it if is causing pain, then it is infected and may require attention of some kind.
