Toddler with Itchy Head!

Not to be offensive, but how long has this been going on? Have you ruled out lice? My sister works for hair fairies (they remove lice) and itching of the head is the big sign. However, if it has been going on for a long time, then that wouldn't be it. I just made an appointment with a pediatric dermatologist for my daughter, because her hair is not growing normally because she has a flaky scalp due to exzema and so I want to know what to do for her. When I find out at her appointment I could share with you what I find out. Currently, we make sure not to use any shampoos with fragrance. You could try california baby or aveeno, if he does not have the flakiness then you wouldn't want to try it, but we tried head and shoulders (her ped recommended). Good Luck!

I know this isn't what you want to hear, but it sounds like it could be head lice. Please have him checked by a nurse.

My daughter has the same thing. They have said that it is part of her allergies. We added a new allergy med and it has helped.

Maybe he is having some sort of reaction to the shampoo. Or maybe he needs a shampoo and conditioner. Check your shampoo label...There is an ingredient called quaternium 15(also called Q 15) in many baby/kid hygiene products. I know its found in head to toe baby wash and baby wipes, for sure. This ingredient is a formaldehyde releasing derivative. Basically that means they put small amounts of formaldehyde in the products...Maybe his skin doesn't like it. Formaldehyde is a cancer causing agent, and is used for embalming the dead, and also setting surgical specimen's so they don't rot. Nice hey!!!
