Toddler Who Crosses His Fingers... Have You Had This Situation?

I have a handsome 21 month old toddler. He doesn't talk much, very shy. He crosses his fingers a lot (like when you cross fingers for good luck). Have you had this situation before? Have your child stop crossing fingers after a while? I just want to know if this is just a phase or something else. Any thought would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you so much for the responses I have received. Is nice to know that we are not the only ones with a child going through a phase like that. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart! God Bless!

Hi C....my son started crossing his fingers as a toddler and at 3& 1/2 I still catch him doing it from time to time...I think it's adorable and can't think of any reason to worry about it. He seems to do it a lot when concentrating really hard!

My daughter also did that at about that age and eventually stopped. My mom said my brother did it as well, and he is a genuis physicist, so I am choosing to believe it is a good sign! : )

I also have a 2o month old son who crosses his fingers. I had to giggle when I saw your post because I thought my little guy was the only one who did it. He also doesn't talk very much and is quite shy. He mostly crosses them on his right hand only and especially does it when he is watching TV or just bored. I just chalked it up to being a habit like sucking on his thumb (which he never did)...so I guess since crossing his fingers can essentially do no harm, then I suppose it is okay:).

Hi C.,

My daughter is 22 months old and she crossed her fingers for a while then stopped then does it every once in a while. I don't think it is anything to be alrmed by just something that they figured out they can do. I thought it was cute I would always ask her if she just made a wish and she would laugh and then uncross them and then cross them again. Who knows?
Hope that helped some.
