What can I do next?

Her pediatrician should be checking her walking at her regular check-ups. If she was recently checked and you feel there's something amiss call her doctor and let them know. They can decide if she needs to be seen or it can wait until her next check-up (18 mos?)

My son was breach and didn't start walking until he was 17 months. We ended up taking him to a specialist because his left foot would sometimes turn all the way around when he was walking, and he would trip. It turns out it was a hip problem that wasn't bad enough for surgery, but the specialist recommended letting him walk bare foot on as many different textures as often as possible. Believe it or not, that really helped, and now at 5 you can only notice it when he is really tired, like after walking at the zoo all day. I would second what the other moms are saying and discuss it with you doctor. Just because my son's was so easily corrected, doesn't mean that's the case with you little one, and it's better to be safe than sorry.

Have her checked because it could be hip, leg, foot and can be corrected if you get her there in time. Also kids just walk 'funny' when they start walking so please get it checked soon. If it's hip it would need corrected before now probably but sometimes when they start walking they use one leg to balance sort of. I had two that needed correction on the foot/leg due to toes turning in and was simple to correct if you get there soon enough.

Have you had her 1 yr well check yet? The pediatrician should observe her walk across the exam room. If (s)he doesn't, specifically ask them to, even if it means getting your baby to follow you out into the hall for a good view and enough distance to make an assessment. My doc always stretched out my babies' legs once they were walking to see if they were the same length. Sometimes they grow at different rates and can contribute to an uneven gait. Bowed legs and knocked knees are normal at different ages and are usually outgrown.

My sons right foot would turn out when he walked. He also would be walking and trip over air and down he'd go. He ended up getting orthodics on both feet to correct the problem. He now does not trip over air.
My friend is bow-legged and her feet don't turn out but I know when she walks, theres more pressure on the front of her feet, almost like walking tiptoed.

Has she just recently started walking? I don't know if this is what you are describing, but when my son started walking, he would turn his feet outward like a ballet dancer. It lasted a few weeks and corrected itself.

I would definitely have her checked by a doctor; if nothing is seriously wrong then he will put your mind at ease. My son was also a little bow-legged and his toes wanted to turn inward and the doctor told us to put his shoes on the wrong feet. I thot this was a crazy idea but it worked!!! Of course, we had a pair that were a little bigger than his normal size so they didn't hurt his feet. But this method straightened him out in a very short time.

Good luck!!!
