I just realized today that my 2 year old's toe nails are dented! It kinda freaked me out. He hasn't smashed them, and his shoes aren't too small. They dont seem to be hurting him, cause when I touched them he giggled.

Is this normal??

What can I do next?

My daughter who is almost three has always had that on her big toes. They are really hard to cut but I just have to make sure that I keep up on it so it doesn't turn into an ingrown toe nail. If it doens't bother him I wouldn't worry about it too much

Good question! My daughter has funky big toe nails. I just keep up on the clipping. Glad to hear she's normal. :-)

When my son learned to walk his toenails got dented, misshapen, and peely. I thought he had a fungus. Turns out that it was from trauma to his nails. Possibly his toes hitting the tops of his shoes or just from banging them a lot from running around. We saw a dermatologist and he said that a nail fungus is rare in little ones. He tested a nail to be sure and it was fine.

I think it's normal. If it doesn't seem to hurt he should be fine. My friend's daughters all have a different foot anomally. One has what seriously looks like in-grown toe nails but they aren't. The other has dented toe nails. The last has discolored toe nails. I think he should be just fine. :)
