my twins are 21 months and they are going to bed at 9:30 and wake up at 5:30 or 6:30 am and take a 1 hour nap at 12:00pm,and they go every day to the park for about 1 1/2 hour after 6 pm.

is this normal sleep?because my older child sleep 12 hours at night and 1 hour nap in the afternoon.

What can I do next?

It seems a little low to me. I think 13 hours is about average for that age, but plus or minus 2 hours is still pretty normal. You could try putting them to bed a little bit earlier and see if there is a change in their demeanor. But despite the recommended amounts if they are both happy and thriving on that amount of sleep then I wouldn't stress about it.

I agree with Kate. Park time is very stimulating, and should be done earlier. Then an earlier bedtime for them. It doesn't sound like they're getting enough sleep during the day or at night.

I too think it sounds a little low. Are they cranky/fussy or do you think they're okay? I think I might try and put them to bed a little earlier. Start small b/c too big a change will backfire on you. Start putting them to bed about 15 minutes earlier than normal. Do that for a week and then push it back another 15 minutes so you're getting at least an extra half hour. Sleep brings sleep, remember that...the more sleep you're getting the more sleep you need.

If you think they are functioning just fine and they don't seem tired or fussy, then I wouldn't worry too much, everyone has their own schedule.

Seems starnge that they go to the park for 1 1/2 hrs after 6pm and don't go to bed until 9.30pm , to me that sounds to late for bed and going to the park is working them up and getting them excited when they should be winding down with a bath and then into bed around 7pm. My youngest is a few months older than your twins and she wakes up around 6.30am , we play at the park in the AM , she has lunch and then naps from 1.30-3pm , she eats dinner around 5.30 and then has a bath and is in bed no later than 7.30pm , she also plays in the PM with her brother and sister when they are home from school.

They're not getting enough sleep. They should be getting 11-12 hours of night sleep and 1 1/2 -3 hours of nap sleep. I definitely second having them go to the park earlier in the afternoon and going to bed at an earlier time, say 7:00-7:30. You may have to gradually push back the bed time by 15 minutes every couple of days until they adjust to the new routine.
Good luck!
