My daughter just turned 20 months old and for the past month if I leave the room for a second she comings running naked. She runs around laughing like it's the funnyest thing in the world. I was just wondering if other moms have gone threw this and if so how did you get threw this? The other night she did this when company was over. I was so embarrassed.

What can I do next?

The only way to get through this is to LAUGH. Don't make it a big deal. She'll stop when she becomes a little more
self-consience. My DD is 5 and sometimes still does. Let her do it but let her know it's not ok when there's company over, only after they've gone. This is what is called normal.

You should not feel embarressed. This is completely normal, and in my opinion, hilarious! She has learned that she can take her clothes off and she enjoys the new found freedom. As is true with so many things, this too shall pass!

Good Luck!

This is very common. Toddlers are known for their clothing antics. Undressing, redressing, lifting shirts, skirts, dropping pants, all normal. They are learning about dressing themselves and are excited with their new found skill. Not to mention they are excited by thier bodies which are still very new to them. And on top of that this behavior always gets a big response from adults! What more could a kid ask for? While it can be embarassing it is normal and will pass. For now, when she does it, show no emotion. Tell her that it is not ok to take her clothes off unless she is in private and redress her. At home, maybe set aside some 'dress up time' where she can dress and undress as she wishes and if desires be naked for like an hour, then has to get dressed and stay dressed for the rest of the day. Then if she starts to undress again, you can remind her it is not dress up time and she needs to wait for dress up time. And if she does it again in front of guest, just shrug your shoulders and tell your guests 'she's a toddler!'

Your post made me laugh because it made me remember how my daughter was when she was two. I have great video footage and the cutest pictures EVER of it and to me, they are priceless. I'm sure she won't appreciate them when I show them to her high school dates, but she'll laugh when she becomes a mom and her kid is doing it too.

It's a great time and so much fun. I know most people think it's adorable and hilarious so don't worry yourself about it. Treasure it.

Both our two and one year old like to run around naked right before their bath and one year old when changing his diaper he tries to get away often. So we chase them around in a cute way to get them into their bath. They are exploring their bodies and it's so normal behavior.

Same as most of the other posts - my DD (almost 3) does it too, and I too am "logging" all of it for future blackmail purposes (lol). I wish I was that comfortable with myself that I could just strip down and run around naked and laugh histarically while doing it. No cares - no worries - just pure innocent fun. You'll get through this and many other "embarrasing" moments. Best to you and your beautiful little girl!

My daughter is 3 1/2. A couple of months ago she decided to shed all her clothes in the middle of my mother-in-law's house. Thereafter she'd do it at will. Now, it really doesn't bother me because I think it's the most natural thing in the world for a child to want to explore all things tactile -- and that includes running around naked. She would even sing her little "maked" (that's what she calls it) song which I thought was very funny. But I didn't really enjoy constantly getting her dressed again, nor did my husband appreciate her jaunts as much as I did. So I did...nothing. That's right. No reaction at all. No laughing, no getting upset, not even asking her not to do it. And she stopped, because she wasn't getting a rise out of me. Initially I would laugh. I couldn't help it at first, but as the novelty wore off for me, so it did for her. Just don't react at all, she'll stop.

It just comes with the territory. My daughter just turned 3 and still loves her "nakie time." Now that she's 3, we've started having discussions about when its appropriate...not in the supermarket etc. We work out of our home and every once in awhile, she'll strip down while we have clients over...you just have to laugh it off.

It's all natural until the toddler cuts loose with a #2 and he or she will, it's guaranteed.
