Toddler Clothes

My daughter is 16 months old, but she is so tall for her age (she is as tall as a 2 1/2 year old). Her legs are so long and I can't find pants that fit her. She needs a 3T for length, but the waist, even on the adjustible waistband pants don't adjust small enough. Her waist is only size 24 months, but the length is over 3 inches too short. Does anybody know where I can find toddler pants in longs?

What can I do next?

I have been told by a friend who is in the same position, that 'long' pants in kids sizes are difficult, if not impossible, to come by.

My best suggestion is learn how to sew! I am lucky and my MIL can (I am not that cool or have that much time- although I can hem a pair a pants now and then).

I would say, buy the 3T and get them on sale! If she sprouted this early, maybe she will stay that height for a little while and she will get use out of these. Just have the sides tacked in a little bit or get draw string pants...

Luckily its the summer so hopefully the shorts with elastic waistbands will be helpful for a while and maybe the rest of her will catch up!!

I had this problem with my daughter 10 years ago. In order to save me I did skirts and leggins.

Since it is almost summer, I'd buy the 24 month size, cuff the bottom and let themlook like pedal pushers:)

She may grow into the larger size by next winter so you can get the length needed.

I have a similar problem, but with my son, so I can't resort to leggings and dresses.

S. L, those belts sound cute, but unfortunately the link you posted looks like they've gone out of business :(

I know that they do sell pants in "slim" sizes, but I'm not sure of specific stores that do that. I would imagine dept stores like JCPenney or Sears.

I agree, we still have this problem with my daughter and she just wears lots of leggings and dresses, now that she's gotten a little older (5yr) i can at least find belts to fit her

you could try Old Navy, but my daughter is tall and has little chicken legs, so we just buy tights and leggings for her. That way, even if they're a little short (because we need to fit the waist) it's ok. And with summer coming, just put her in dresses and shorts - no worries about leg length.

I have the same problem with my 2 1/2 year old, she's 39 inches tall and 26 lbs. Most 24 mo and 2T clothing is loose and could fall off her but they are total hi-waters! PJ's and dresses are 3T and they are getting tight in the length. I dealt with hi-waters most of the winter and was able to find a few jeans with the elastic inside and tightened them as much as possible. They were still loose but stayed on the waist. I'm glad it's almost summer so it can be shorts and dresses and leggings. She can stil wear some 18 month clothing as well due to her small waist. If only I still had that problem. ha ha!

Ditto, Tedsmommy, my scrawny daughter (still having clothes fitting issues because she's so thin at 14) wore leggings, bike shorts, with a little skirt or a tunic style top. There was no keepin pants on the kid!

:)

Have you looked into Hanna Anderson clothing? What about leggings? They always seem to be pretty long. Good luck!

My daughter is skinny and long too. I bought a belt that is very kid friendly and adult friendly too! They only go around through belt loops and leaves the button/zipper to the pants open for easy diaper changes/potty training. They have some really cute prints for the belts and they are machine washable. Fairly reasonably priced too. Go to www.skinnykidz.com to see the belts. I believe they are only available online as I've never seen them in stores. Best wishes!
