I am looking for a new car sear for my 3 year old daughter. We currently have a Britax Marathon for her but will be transitioning our 8 month old daughter to it soon. Any recommendations for us? I am interested in the Britax Frontier but just wanted to hear from other moms what they have used and why you like it. Thanks!!!

What can I do next?

We had the Marathon and moved on to the Frontier. It seemed like the natural progression! We like Britax and decided to stick with it. It seems like a very comfortable seat.

We moved from Roundabout/Marathon world to the Frontier 85. I like that fact that you can use the five point harness up to 85 pounds. I tried the Parkway booster for my older son, but neither that nor the Graco Turbobooster Elite Highback work in our Volvo V70. The head rests push the seats to a vertical position and the booster companies say that is not a safe position, and not particularily comfortable either.

We also have the Safety First Go Hybrid, which is nice b/c it folds up and is easy for travel (checking it on a plane, etc.).

Whatever you get, get it from a place that has free shipping on returns, or buy from a store so you can test it out in your car.

We have a new Frontier 85 and LOVE it ! Love the integrated cupholders and arm rests, and the extra padding ( most other brands of boosters only have the very little quilting in the seatcover as padding) for little butts to make long trips easier....we drive from IL to WV and TN multiple times a year, and she ( my 4 year old) does so much better in this one than in in the Cosco or Safety 1st boosters we had previously.

It is easy to install, and easy to adjust harness height. She has just gotten strong enough to be able to buckle and un-buckle herself in the last couple months, and she is 4 and a half.

My son is in her old Britax Boulevard, and when he gets too big, we will get him a frontier too. Those are in our van - its the main "kid car" and the one we always take on our long trips, so the safer/more expensive/more comfortable seats are in there. In our RAV4, we have a Cosco 5-point high back booster that converts to belt positioning, and a Graco SnugRide. Pretty soon, we will get another lesser cost High back booster for my son in there, that one is usually only used for short trips under 1 hour drive.

I also looked at the Sunshine kids one, and the Graco Nautilus - but i ended up liking things about the Frontier better- the Graco seems like a great solution, but after 45 pounds you can't use the latch system with it, supposedly, and that threw me off on a seat that is supposed to go to 65 pounds. Frontier can use the latch all the way to its top weight limit.

We did the same, moved little one to the marathon and oldest to the frontier. I trust britax's safety ratings and reputation, both from research and personal experience. The newer frontier has excellent reviews. It's harder to install than the marathon and really heavy but very sturdy, comfortable, and we love it! My daughter likes the cup holders and it's easy for her to buckle and unbuckle and adjust. We got a great deal at albeebaby.com, I've also seen them new in box on eBay.

I bought a car seat that holds children 5 pounds- 88 pounds. It's called the Elite, I found it at Costco & really like it.
