I understand! My boy is tall and thin. Luckily Children's Place sells jeans and pants with the adjustable waist. We find these work for us. My husband is very uncomfortable with a 3 year old and belts.
Hi Mamas!
Does anyone have a good recomendation for Toddler belts? My daughter needs 3T pants for lengh but we can hardly get 2T pants to stay up on her tiny waist.
We found one belt at the Childrens Place but it's for for fashion and has a huge buckle that hurts her tummy.
I've researched some online, but there seem to be a lot of choice and they are just too expensive to start ordering them all . Any suggestions would be great!
Thanks!!

My daughter lives in leggings and adjustable waist pants for the same reason. Plus belt may get in the way of getting to the bathroom on time.
Here are a few sites I've looked at for belts for my toddler son. We're dealing with major skinny waists, too! I've purchased from Smartie Pants, which are belts that just hook in the back, and I think they work pretty well. I also have a Kula Klip belt, but that does go all the way around- not great for potty training, plus for my little guy, even that's still too big!
One GREAT idea I had recently, but have yet to try- still, I feel the need to share it just in case- use mitten clips! This would work just like the Smartie Pants clips, I think, and would be SO much cheaper! And mitten clips should be readily available this time of year, too. Let me know if you try it! :)

Good Luck!
I'm assuming there are belt loops on the pants. You could use a scarf and tie it. Scarf fabric is usually easy to quickly untie when she needs to use the potty and it's fashionable.
My kids are super skinny and very tall so I've found that they prefer really cute "girlie" suspenders instead of belts. We also have had some luck with the pants/jeans with the adjustable waist.
*Edit*
We usually get our suspenders in Japan but here are some sites I found online just now:

I had this problem with my daughter and I went to the fabric store and bought gross grain ribbon in cute designs and then touched the ends up with fray check. Then you just tie it with a cute little bow. The stores have started to sell pants with gross grain belts also. They are cute and you can change out the colors. You can also us them for her hair.
We searched for a long time for belts for my son (and suspenders as well) with no luck. Sometimes Wal-Mart has them, but not always.
I see a few other mom's on here talking about the adjustable waist pants. That's what we have to do for jeans for my daughter. Her legs are in the 3T size but her waist is still with-in the 2T. I as well tried to find her a toddler belt, but was unable too. I did find a pair of pants that came with a belt, but she HATED it. I hope you find something! If not just keep an eye out for the adjustable elastic on the inside of the waistband.
My daughter has the same problem. I did find belts at walmart. You could check there?
What I've found to work the best for us is the pants with the adjustable waist. They are extremely nice and I don't have to worry about belts too much anymore.
I love the idea of "Myself Belts" I think that they would be really easy to make with ribbon and velcro. :)

I also used a boy's belt for my girls. For some reason, girls' belts have to be more glitzy with big buckles. You can also put little flowers or something on a plain belt to make it more girly with paint from a craft store. Just make sure the paint is the right one for the material. I did this when one of my girls got toatlly girly and would not wear a plain belt.
lots of pants have slims or adjustable waists once you hit size 3. My daughters are 11 and 8 and still can wear a size 2T for the waist (they wear pants in that size as capris!), so I understand itty bitty!
When the older one was 18 mos old, there were NO adjustable waists, and I had a terrible time. I safety pinned her waists, used ribbon tied tight through the back boot loops and found other creative ways to have the waist fit. Slims in Levy were the best though.
My son needed a belt as he sprouted up at 18-24 mo. and the one we liked best I got in the Target boys section, the slide through canvas type (I cant figure out what to call it). Anyway, that was until he got into toddler sizes. Now I always make sure that the pants I buy for him have and adjustable waist. Old Navy jeans as well as many others have the elastic strips with the buttons on the inside of the waist band so you can cinch them in. that method is so much nicer than a cumbersome belt on their tiny frames.
All 4 of my kids need smaller sizes in the waist than in the length. We buy all adjustable waist jeans. That way they don't have to worry about belts during potty training for the littler ones and at school for the older ones. Almost everywhere now puts adjustable waist in their jeans. Only problem I have found is when you dry them it takes a bit longer with the waist being cinched. :) Good luck!!
I had this problem with my son. First I only bought adjustable waist pants. The best belt we have found is Myself Belts (http://www.myselfbelts.com/Belts-for-Kids.cfm) we got them as a hand me down from a friend, but I have seen them on target.com. They are velcro so a potty training child can do it themselves. They are also soft, with no hard or pinchy buckles.
I just bought my son one at Baby Gap- I had looked everywhere else and was unable to find one. He has long legs, so he is in 4T pants, but he is only 2.5 so they wouldn't stay up. I had actually used bailing twine to tie his pants up a time or two, would make my father proud, but couldn't take him out in public like that! ;)
I was going to say Baby Gap as well. The last time I checked they didn't have "girl" belts, but the boy belts are very gender neutral in my opinion. I've put both of my girls in them. Good luck!
I had the same problem with my son's when they were young. If you can sew, add a couple of inches of elastic to the back of her pants. If you're like me and don't have a sewing machine or the talent, bring them to your dry cleaners. It's really inexpensive to have them sew some elastic in. It realy works and isn't noticeable! Or, you can always feed her more!
