I would recommend the DuPage Children's Museum. Not only is it huge and lots of room to move around but the activities are so vast it's amazing. We've been taking my son since he was just over a year and he has loved it from day 1.

Does enyone know of any place in Aurora-Naperville where I can take my 16 month old doughter just to play, run around and get out of the house for a little bit? I looked into the Gymboree and My Gym, but those are more like classes. Thank you!
Thanks a lot ladies! I ended up getting a yearly membership at Children's Museum in Naperville. My doughter had a blast there. I would definatelly recomended it to new moms :) Xoxoxo

I am going to list a bunch of things that WON'T work yet for you, but I thought you might want to save the links as bookmarks for the future.
For now though, I would see about My Gym. I loved taking my dd there at that age, she had a blast. Yes it was a class but they also had open gym times if you were in the classes. And the class was fun and like a mini preschool. I was really impressed with it at that age level.

I second Airtastic in Aurora on Frontenac. It's relatively new, and they are open from 10am-8 pm daily and you can go whenever. There aren't time limits like a lot of other places like this. I, too, like the divided sections so the little ones aren't run over by older ones. You can pay for 1 hour, 1.5 hour or 2 hours, I think. They have a punch card where if you pay for so many visits you get one free. Their website is:
I am a nanny and am always looking for things to do wit the kids, especially in the cold months. I don;t know where you live but they have a great McDonalds playland in woodridge on 75th and Janes, the library in Downers Grove has a great jr room and open story times that the kdis love. I have also gone to the childrens museum in Naperville, it is really nice and I also do classes with my 20 month old at the park district. They have classes for all ages, mom and tot. They are really nice, they do fun things with the kids, puppet shows, sing, dance, etc and the kids get to run when needed. Then you meet moms with kids your child'sage and make play dates. I have also gone to Brookfield zoo to the hummel house. It's all small children and they can run, paint their faces and see small animals (all indoors) It really is nice. Good Luck.
When we were new to the Plainfield area, I found that going to the mall and letting my daughter run around in the play area was fun for her. Yes, I had the "germ magnet" idea in the back of my head, but I would use a hand sanitizer on her as soon as we stepped out. She is older (4 now) but I think your daughter would still have fun running with some other kids. Good luck!
My grandson loves to go to the park.
Washington Park off Constitution is good.
Look into GymQuest in Plainfield. It's on VanDyke Rd. They have open gym times and the kids can run all over and there is plenty for them to do. (Inflatables, trampolines in the floor, a huge foam pit, etc.) And, the DuPage Children's Museum in Naperville is a great place to go too!
We love the DuPage Childrens Museum, and the Morton Arboretum (in nicer weather). If you're willing to drive, there's a very nice free zoo/farm in Wheaton, called Cosley Zoo. We also go to the library or the play area in the mall just to get out in the winter. Some park districts offer open gyms for tots.
There is a great place in Aurora called Airtastic Play Land on Frontenac Street off Route 34. Check out their website www.airtastic.com. The DuPage Children's Museum in Naperville is a great place to take your daughter too. Have fun!
How about the DuPage Children's Museum in Naperville on Washington Street just south of Ogden? I took my daughter there when she was quite young and there are areas where they can just touch, feel and play with fun stuff.
I know that there is a play area in the fox valley mall. I think it is near the jcpenney store, but not exactly sure. there is also the playland at the mcdonald's on galena. You should check with the fox valley park district. they have numerous offerings in the eola and vaughn centers.
There is a place in Aurora called Airtastic. It is off of Frontenac Rd. It is sorta like a Pump it up and you can just go in and pay by the hour or whatever to let the kids play.. They have it divided in two sections so that kids under a certain size are only allowed on all of the equipment but bigger kids can only go on some of it so the little ones won't get trampled by older/bigger kids. We did my son's b-day party there in May and it was very clean and people were helpful and friendly.
The childrens museum well worth the money join... You'll have fun too.
Fox valley mall (westfield) has a climbing area for little kids. it has a big walled in section with climbing thing, little things to ride/rock on and stuff on all the walls. that may work for you and its free. (bonus lol)
good luck

DuPage Children's Museum in Naperville! It's fantastic and perfect for your daughter's age. Don't think twice about the getting the yearly pass, it'll pay off after 2 visits. They have great activities with water so have her wear crocs or bring a change of clothes!!! It's worth the mess! SO MUCH FUN!!! Enjoy.
