TMI... Constant Yeast Infections While Pregnant

I am 6 months pregnant, and have had constant yeast infections since I got pregnant. I have tried several different scripts from the doctor, OTC creams, eating yogurt, ect. While treating the infection will get better, only to get worse again a week or so later. I have had my doctor do a PAP so I know theres nothing more serious going on. Anyone know anything that can help with this? TIA

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Im glad to know Im not the only one with this problem :) Later Ill have to take a pro-biotic and eat some pickles in a baking soda bath, lol. Hopefully this in combination with the meds I am already using from the doctor will knock it out. @Tiffany, the same thing happened to us and my husband was none too happy. Your response made me wonder if maybe we are passing it back and forth and that could be part of the problem. As if pregnant sex wasnt unappealing enough, now we get to have pregnant condom sex, lol. thanks to everyone for the advice!

Yes at 32 weeks gone going through the same at the moment.
I have been taking baths with baking soda for two days now and plan to continue for a few more days so hopefully it will clear. Also I'm taking probiotics.
All the best

Probitics. You can only get so much from yogurt, and depending on the yogurt you're eating, you can get very little. Get some probiotics from a vitamin or natural foods store. They would be in with the refrigerated vitamins. They saved me from my yeast infections during pregnancy!!

When we are pregnant our hormones are thrown way off. I think I had a yeast infection for 4 or five months straight. Finally, I saw another doctor and he gave me three pills of diflucan and I had to take one a week for three weeks. I would says probiotic tablets might help but since you are pregnant you should ask your doctor if they are safe.

Have you been tested for gestational diabetes? High blood sugar contributes to frequent yeast infections. You might want to really watch the refined sugar in your diet (think anything sweet from a wrapper or box), and take acidophilus capsules. Nurse Midwife Mom

What you need is a good couple of rounds of Diflucan but alas, can't take it because of being preggo (at least I don't think you can take it orally because of that)...Let me tell you I know exaclty what you're talking about. To help control it take Probiotics..They are completely safe during pregnancy. If you are concerned talk to your OB before starting. They were my saving grace while pregnant..Yep it keeps the intestinal flora normal but also for the female parts to. Limit sugar while I know hormones right now are what's the driver you have to cut back on the rest. Keep eating yogurt and go with the probiotic.

take a warm bath with baking soda. keep eating yogurt especially ones live activia which will help regulate the digestive track and help from the inside out. Make sure if you go to the swimming pool to change out of wet bathing suit right away when you get home. A wet enviornment can harbor bacteria. I would also make sure you are only wearing cotton underware. When sleeping sleep with out underware so everything can get air to it.LOL. Good luck.

It sounds like many of you are having trouble with persistant vaginosis/vaginitis and sounds like you may be guessing it is a boring strain of Candida. For these persistant infections, your physicians should be running a test (from a vaginal collection swab) that will test for eleven organisms and identify what the heck is causing it. You don't have to be miserable!!

I'm not pregnant but have experienced 4 yeast infections in 7 months. Enough already! The only thing that has worked for me is taking a good probiotic. You should be able to take that while you're pregnant but talk with your doctor.

As soon as I ran out of my priobiotics, and decided not to get more because I was doing well, I got another yeast infection. Needless to say, I'm back on probiotics.

Also, you'll want to eat as little sugar and refined carbohydrates as possible and of course, no alcohol. All those sugary-type foods only provide a feast for the yeast in your body.

Good luck!

start taking probiotics and eating organic yogurt. Also limit your obvious sugar intake.

what you need is dill pickles! yep, dill pickles! this was my great-grandma's cure for yeast infections. unless you have problems with salt (as most commercial pickles are high in sodium) eating a few pickles a day will take care of the problem. the vinegar in them kills the yeast. i had a co-worker with a nasty yeast infection that nothing would get rid of. her doc had been trying everything for months and nothing worked. she started eating pickles every day and was cured within a week. good luck! oh, if you hate pickles you can just drink the juice.

Ive had itching and sensitivity since i got pregnant, similar to a yeast infection but its not (no smell or strange discharge). Im asking my doc about it today, it never happened with my other 2 pregnancies.

I don't have any tips, but I do feel your pain. When I was pregnant with my daughter I had the same problem. I hope you find some relief. If nothing else take heart, mine ended when I gave birth and I have not had any yeast infections since then. My daughter is 2 1/2 now. :)

I have found that cutting sugar down to almost nothing, even watching how much fruit I eat, helps a lot with yeast. I also take a super acidophilis tablet from Trader Joe's every day. This is something my dtr did while nursing & struggling with thrush, and it's worked for me with other types of yeast. Yeast loves sugar and a warm, moist environment. Not wearing underwear or slacks that trap heat, like polyester, is also necessary. Cotton is best and change it if it gets damp.

My sister warned me that a summer pregnancy would result in lots of yeast infections. With my twins I had two or three. With this pregnancy, it seems I have one every two weeks. I have had 2 scripts at 5 refills each, I have two weeks left of my pregnancy, and one refill left. I was going to refill this week. I know that my body has sweated in places it never sweat before in this hot summer, and there's not much "breathing room" left down their for air flow. I have thought that contributed to the problem. I am hoping that this symptom goes away with all of the other miserable pregnancy symptoms once our little guy arrives. At least I know I'm not unusual, after reading your post and responses, they are helpful. Although I eat yogurt daily.... that didn't seem to do the trick either.
