T.C.
R., I totally feel your pain and I mean that literally! I was swollen from about 12 weeeks prego til even NOW 2.5 years later! I still can not fit into regular shoes! I have been put on a diuretic to help me since and I drink lots of iced tea since it is also a diuretic (the caffiene in it is). The pregnancy caused damage to my kidneys (just found out) so make sure you are watching this closeley along with your blood pressure!
While I was prego the Dr suggested that I up my water intake.... I was drinking about 12-16 8oz glasses or more a day with lemon or oranges in it to help flush me- you will feel like you never leave the bathroom though. Also, elevate your feet and legs as much as possible. If possible try wrapping your legs in ace bandages to help push the water up and out- not sure if your dr would prescribe those special stockings for you but worth asking for- they do work if you wear them! Definately limit your salt intake.... do not add it to anything! Watch the amount of sodium in your drinks also as well as in canned and prepackaged foods and veggies- it is amazing where it is hiding :)
If you notice that you are short of breath, vision changes, bruising easily or anything else that is abnormal for you definately call your dr immediately!
I hope you find some relief soon! Many blessings to you and yours and to a happy healthy delivery!
