Would anyone know if there is any type of solution on how to remove the sealant from my tile floor in my bathroom? I did tile floors last summer and they look great. Our family friend told us that after a couple of days, to make sure we put the sealer on there so that way the grout doesn't stain (it's a creamy white grout color). Well, i totally forgot to do this for a while and when i finally remembered, after it was done i realized i sealed in some stains too. I need to remove the sealer so that way i can clean the grout and then seal again. any ideas???

What can I do next?

After reading the responses you received so far, my only advice is to check the sealer you used. when I sealed my grout, I used a product my cousin (who worked at Virginia Tile) recommended. He said it was really good because it "impregnates" the grout. So if you have a sealer that does the same thing (as opposed to just sitting on top of the grout), you may be better off regrouting. Trying to remove sealer that now lives 'within' the grout may be a lot of work. Just my two cents...

my husband installs tile for a living...he suggested contacting a professional grout cleaner (check the yellow pages) they might be able to steam it out...otherwise...it's kind of a messy job of chipping out the grout and regrouting...

There's a product called "Oil Eater" that is sold in COSTCO. My husband used it to remove the tile sealant in order to re-do it.

Good Luck.

The office that I clean just had to remove some stains in their grout also. The maintanence guy used a mini sander (thumb-size) and sanded the grout in the areas of the stains and then resealed those small areas. It may be easier than trying to take all the sealent off.

A really simple way to remove grout sealer from tile is to use a nylon brush and scrub them with a mild cleanser (I use Softscrub) and it will come off. The last time I did this was with a textured slate and it even worked on this surface.

Good Luck!!!
