Tie Fleece Blanket

I made one for a twin bed, tied on the sides and sewn on the top and bottom, it doesn't hang over the sides just lays right on the top. It cost about $50 to make.

I've only made small O.--crib size or a little larger.
Hmmm...can't see why it wouldn't work, but you might need to "punch down" the large middle area with some stitches or yarn anchors to keep the two layers lined up.

I was given two of those as gifts. After washing the shapes of them became odd. They are heavy and awkward. Just buy her a cute comforter. You won't regret it.

I think it would work well. An associate at a good fabric store will be able to tell you how much fabric you will need.
Also look at the calico and drapery fabrics. You may be able to find what you are looking for and make a quilt or bedspread for her bed. It's not that difficult. You would need a fabric for the top and the bottom of the quilt and some batting for in the middle. This way you could make as warm as you needed or make it lightweight for summer.
If you don't sew at all most fabric stores have lists of seamstresses who can make it for you for a nominal cost. But should be less expensive than buying a comforter set.

Funny you should ask this.....I just made one this weekend for my son. It was 90 inches long (2 1/2 yards). We laid it out on the floor and it had it done within 45 minutes.

I'd make one for her bed and keep looking for a comforter set. When and if you find what your looking for she will always have a very snugglie blanket to wrap up in....

I'v made a lot of knot blankets in the past (as they make great gifts!) and actually have made them for my children's twin size beds. They work and look great! As you mentioned, they won't be quite wide enough to hang down on the sides but still doesn't effect the look. You will need 2.5-3 yards of fleece to get the length you need. You can wash and dry them easily, just may have 2 tighten some of the knots and re-stretch it out after removing from the dryer. No need for sewing it together in the center (as someone else mentioned-the material will cling together) If your daughter has a larger bed, you could purchase an inexpensive blanket or comforter w/a coordinating/plain color (think "big one " brand @ kohl's) to put on under to completely cover the sides if you're not sure you'll like it without. I have made loads of these! I make them for the kids. But not as an actual full blanket. My liked to walk around all wrapped up in them , great for snuggling on the couch. I usually have them at the end of the beds. They do look really nice.

My mom has made loads of these. She made one for my sister that was full size to fit on her bed at college. She started in the middle and worked her way out to the sides leaving three ties at the corners undone on each side. (So the six ties around the corners were undone.) Then she would have someone help her and tie one of each opposite side until they were all done.

My sister loved it and it fit the bed well.
