My older son has a loft bed (the KURA by IKEA). The two boys share a room. Any ideas on how to safely block the ladder until our 2 year old is older?

Thanks

So What Happened?

Thanks Jill K. Just ordered the toddle lock ladder blocker. Pricey but worth the peace of mind.

We took the ladder off and had the older one climb the side of the bed. It was easier.

I looked up KURA and saw the ladder is a built in part of the bed frame.

There's a product for toddler-proofing ladders - http://www.toddlelock.com/
Stops toddlers from climbing but older kids can still get up & down.

They have a Facebook page with photos and videos: https://www.facebook.com/toddlelock

Do you have a hamper or a storage basket or something like that, that you could easily wedge up against the ladder part? I don't think you can remove the ladder can you.

My sister had an old piece of art (that came on one of those thick kind of boards) - like a print that's been laminated - that was bright and cheery, and they re-purposed it to swing out and block some stairs in their house - there wasn't room for a baby gate and it was actually a nicer alternative. I wonder if you could find just a lightweight board that could swing out over it and lock (so wouldn't come down on little one).

We had to put our ladder away in the bedroom closet when not in use when our grandbaby was staying with us. It wasn't ideal, but it was the best solution for us. Our son learned how to get it out when he needed it, but he didn't spend alot of time during the day on his bed so it wasn't a big issue. We also didn't have to do it for that long - she only seemed interested in it for a few months.

Good luck!
