Thyroid Cancer - Beaufort,SC

I just went through this in April of this year. I had the biopsy, they couldn't tell if my nodule was hot or cold, but they did detect cancer cells. I had the right half of my thyroid removed, I still have the left, but I also have to take synthroid every day. Have you recently either lost or gained weight? I went through something very similar about 15 years ago. I spent 4 months in agony seeing different specialist before I had a biopsy. Mine turned out not to be cancer, but I got an infection in it within 2 weeks of having the biopsy and have to have emergency surgery to have it removed. Mine was about the size of an apple and they had to remove 2/3 of my thyroid in order to get all of the tumor as they called it. I have since known several people with similar problem, all of which tunrned out to just be tumors or nodules. Thyroid cancer is eveidently pretty rare. Ask a lot of questions and insist that tests and such are expedient. I wish you the best.

I am going through something similar althaugh I still don't know if my nodules are cold or not. I have a resonance sonogram (the one you have to swallow the iodine pill) next Wed. I knew I had these nodules for some time but for what I had found out before I shouldn't worry too much about them. Now a coupple of weeks ago I noticed one in particular that grew overnight and started to hurt really bad and it got progressibly worst. I hurt when I moved my neck, when I coughed and even when I barely touched it. Then I noticed another one right above my "Eve's apple" (HEHE).So I called the doctor inmediatly. I can't lie and say that I am not scared. The fact that they grew up so fast really threw me off and it even made me contemplate the posibility of cancer. Now, for what I know, thrugh Drs and what I have read, the posibility of Thyroid nodules being malign is very minimal, some of 3% of the cases and for some reason, the risk of cancer is higher in males. Now, there is always the posibility and one never knows. Hopefully you have a great Endocrinologyst that would guide you through all your questions and concerns.
Also, for what I know, these kinds of nodules are mainly associated to the thyroid gland alone. I don't think you should be too worry about nodules in other parts of your body.

Again, ask lots of questions to you doctors, make sure you understand everything they tell you. I am here for you if you, and I will be thinking and praying for you on Tuesday.
