Thrush is a huge inconvenience. I had it with all three of my kids when they were infants. The first time, our pediatrician gave us this bottle of a yellowish colored solution (I was to swab with a q-tip the baby's mouth and also rub my nipples with it after every feeding). For the life of me, I can't remember the name of it but it did not work. With #2, I tried the yellowish solution again and it didn't work so we tried (under the care of our pediatrician and my obgyn) ginseng violet (spelling?). It works but it is extremely messy - same thing - the pediatrician swabbed the mouth of our baby and I painted my nipples. It looked like he sucked on a purple marker. We had about 2 rounds of this. Works - but VERY messy. I believe you can also buy this over the counter but hard to find and you should consult your doc before using. My ultimate solution: Newman's Ointment. Look it up online. You treat yourself - rub it on your nipples (you can still wear a bra) and apply it before your baby feeds. You may want to purchase the Lansinoh breast pads (disposable) to place inside your bra and change frequently. Again, talk to your pediatrician and/or your obgyn for details about the Newman's Ointment. A friend of mine even suggested olive oil - never tried it but she is LLL. Whatever you do, good luck!
