I used to watch the 3 stooges when I was little with my parents and I looked it up and its pg. Has anyone seen this? It doesnt seem to be worse then any other show thats for a 5 year old. I mean half of the cartoons out there are violent. So what are your opinions? Suitable for what age? I am kind of liberal with what she watches as long as its pg so I guess my main question is would it be funny for a 5 year old? Have you watched it? I googled it and it said it was a family movie

What can I do next?

My mom took my 5 year old son to watch it... My son really like it, my mom thought it was too silly... Yes, it's appropriate. IMO

No it is not.
First of all, if you are religious, esp Catholic, or have any respect for religion, be aware that there is a scene where a woman portraying a Catholic nun emerges from a swimming pool wearing a head covering, and highly revealing string bikini. The filmmakers are making a sexually oriented joke about the worship of God. No way a responsible parent can regard that as appropriate for kids.

I saw it. A lot of the things will go over a 5-year old's head. There is a lot of physical comedy with hitting each other over the head with tools and such. Kids seem to find that stuff funny, and I think they KNOW that it's not real because in real life a person would get injured.

There is a short explanation at the end of the movie that shows that the actors were using soft rubber things to hit one another and then sound effects were added. They also showed that they did not actually poke each other in the eye. It concludes with telling kids not to try these things at home with real tools.

My daughter has always loved physical comedy and also she watches lots of action films and has watched a lot of action and horror since she was young. She has never hit another child and is not violent in any way.

I think what you let your child see depends on the personality of the child. I think the plot of the movie would probably go over a 5-year old's head but she might enjoy the comedy part.

I was never a fan myself but my husband and his brothers were.
The stooges were blamed when my husband hit his little brother over the head with coke bottle and ended up having to get some stitches.
But, it's like you said, cartoons are violent too, always have been and I suppose always will be.
We are mandated as parents to really explain fact and fiction to our kids at the earliest age possible so they can understand that what they see on TV is for entertainment purposes..... and comes with the disclaimer: "Do Not Try This at Home".
Guys love the Stooges.☮

I can't say I can watch the Stooges, old or new, even as an adult. The other night they had a marathon on...the amount of violence even put M. off. (They burned a guy and then bludgeoned him with a lug wrench so he was looking pretty KOed on the floor.) I always preferred Abbot and Costello--- at least there was an actual storyline.

If you want your kid to think it's funny when people hurt each other, go for it. There's not much else going on.

Maybe you should go preview it yourself first, or wait until it's out on video and then preview? Then you would know if it met your standards.

ps: I know I sound like a square old lady, but there it is... I AM a pretty square gal!

I wouldn't do it, mainly because kids that age have a wild imagination, can have a hard time telling what's real & fake, and what's acceptable. He may think that seeing it in a movie means that behaving like that is okay. I look at it like a seed that's being planted in their little, impressionable heads. It's J. not something I would seek out & take my kid to.
