You SHOULD be able to ask ANYTHING you want, but some people wont be able to handle it properly. :)

You should have been on about 2 weeks ago. Lady parts, man parts, it's all fair game on here.
Religion, politics, birth control, race, education... bring it on!
Now, don't expect everyone to agree with you or see things your way. Take what you can from this site as a whole. Good luck..

the best way to figure out how it works (assuming you've read the rules before signing up, right?) is to jump in.

No but be prepaired to be judged, accused, have your words twisted around, told how you really feel or what you really meant, what your thinking before you even think it, and how awful you are for even attempting to think it and all that other great stuff;)

No nothing is really off limits. just answer what you want, and jump over what you don't. Some people go over board, some people don't. It's just the way of the site. You'll get the hang of it. Welcome aboard!!

Welcome to mamapedia.

No. There are no topics that are off limits. There are topics that people do NOT like to talk about. And if it's illegal - yeah - I wouldn't put it out there. There are, however, 'hot topics'. They usually are:
* politics - this includes welfare, obamacare and whose running for office.
* circumcision
* breast feeding vs. bottle/formula feeding
* stay at home mom vs. working mom
* vaccinations (to do it or not)
* sex (we actually had one member leave because there was too much sex talk on here)...
* religion

Doesn't mean you can't ask them - Just be prepared for some "extreme" answers.

There are a LOT of great people on this site. You will get a LOT of great answers. As with everything in life there are bad apples everywhere. It's UP TO YOU to make those judgments for yourself.

We have a moms, dads, aunts and uncles on here. We have a rainbow of people with every single one of us walking in different shoes so you will get a myriad of answers. Some you like. Some you don't like.

Please remember that when READING responses - especially ones you don't like - you will put YOUR attitude and "nastiness" to it because you cannot hear my passion, caring, etc. nor can you see me. If something is offensive to you - it's best to send the person a personal message to clarify things.

here are things that help you get more advice:
* Please DO NOT change your question. If you need add something because the advice or information you are getting isn't what you are looking for - EDIT TO ADD (ETA) and ADD to your question. DO NOT change it. please.
* Remember that paragraphs are your friends. LONG run on sentences and ONE HUGE paragraph are hard to read so you might get people who respond and get lost in all the "stuff"...
* without giving a book - give as much information as possible so that people can help you. For example - we had a mom asking about her daughter's cough. Many of us said "asthma" because for those that suffer - asthma does NOT mean a "wheeze". I think she got some GREAT answers (I hope she thinks so too) because she gave information and kept it simple. Daughter has been sick for 3 months. Sinus Infection. Antibiotics. Well, that's simply put but I hope you get my meaning.

don't worry about offending people. If you tell it from your heart and not say "eff you" or "you are stupid" or "this is a stupid question" then you're fine. Some people don't have thick skin. Just remember this is a public forum. You will get all kinds!!

Sorry for the book - but hope that helps!! If you don't know the abbreviations - we can help with that too!

Nope--any topic is fine. Jump right in....
Take the advice you find helpful and don't take the rest personally.
No O. here "knows" you so you might get responses you don't expect.
I love a good debate.
Welcome!
