Per our kids doctor almost all toddlers do this and they grow out of it after a while.
My daughter is 2 years old....she has a hard enough time going to sleep at night but mose recently she has started to grind her teeth right before she goes to bed....then i noticed her doing it after she eats....we had her 1st yearly check up and they said everything looked perfect but i'm wondering what i can do about it....i have a call into her dentist but im waiting for the call back. has any one else had toddlers do this?
oh yah, her dad does it too at night time...i dont know if that has anything to do with it.????

Our dentist says that you WANT young children to grind their teeth. That it's part of the teething process (cutting, as well as strenthening the bone density of their jaw / increases calcium being deposited in their forming adult teeth)... and that most kids stop naturally as they start losing their baby teeth. AKA not to worry/ to encourage rather than discourage UNTIL their adult teeth come in. If they're still grinding (rare), that a guard can be used at that point if necessary.
Bruxism
I have it still, i had to get veneers because i grinded my teeth so much they were too small, now i cracked my veneers twice.next time they are going to charge me to re-adhere the damage.
Get her a specially made mouth guard when she gets a little older, talk to her dentist.
My DD is 18 months and she does it often. She started to do it as soon as she got teeth on the top and bottom at about 10 months and has done it on and off ever since. The sound is worse than nails on a chalk board to me. At first I tried to get her to chew on something else which didnt work and then as she got a bit older and understood what I was saying I would ask her to stop but she is one of those kids where you say dont and she goes 'oh you want me to do that more?" =) Now I just try my hardest to ignore it because I have learned that there really isnt too much you can do
Good Luck
This is common.
Both my kids did that too.
Its fine.
It is, involuntary.
They grow out of it.
Our dentist said its no big deal and common.
Unless they are chronic about it.
Usually not.
Get them both a mouth guard ASAP! I cant stand it when my other half does it too.
Its normal for kids to do it---she will stop eventually. Its completely different than adult bruxism (grinding teeth). Don't worry....She is fine!
