we have a 2011 honda pilot I love it. i am adding a second car seat for new baby in a few weeks but i think you could even put all 3 in the second row. it's very roomy.
Hey mamas... I have a question. prego with #3 and need a new car. Kids will be 4, 14 mos., and newborn. I will need a car with a third row. NO MINIVANS please. Any suggestions of cars/suv with 3rd row that is substantial. Some look so flimsy or are too close to the tailgate especially during a rear end car crash. I am really looking for safety ... Any ideas???
Thanks for all the responses. For those of you who reccomend a minivan...the reason I said none please was because I have one already. This new car is for my husband. I love my Toyota Sienna. But I could never get hubby to buy another one! Sorry I didn't specify.

I had a GMC Acadia before moving to London. I LOVED that car!! I actually shed a tear the day I turned it in. I only have two children who sat comfortably in the middle row captains chairs, but often had my friends two kids with me and was able to fit them in the third row. You cannot fit an infant seat in the third row though. Decent space behind third row for storage. Good luck!
Check out the Buick Enclave. From what I've seen, it looks to be SUV on the outside and minivan like inside. I too do not want to do the minivan thing!
I have said it before and I will say it again....Chevy Suburban!
The newer ones are really nice looking too! I have a 2005 and it is awesome...it was our 1st ever Brand New Car and we shopped and shopped and shopped and looked at everything there was to look at...when you are dropping that much $$$ you have to do your homework...and it won out by FAR!
You gotta test drive one just to see what I mean...it's like driving a luxury sedan only WAY bigger...but it doesn't feel as big as it looks!
We get lots of snow here and it is an awesome snow car....tons of leg room and storage!
I have the Volvo XC90 it has the third seat option with baby seat option in the middle of first row of back seats. I dont have babies but I can taxi teenagers around with no problem
I have to ask, why no minivans?? I know some families are totally against owning one and I have never understood why (no judgement just curious). We got a minivan a few weeks after our third child was born and I have had one ever since. We are looking at upgrading in the spring and have looked at several suv's as well. I would love to purchase a GM Acadia, has the third row, storage room behind it and I love how it looks, but it is way more expensive than a minivan. My kiddos are now 16,13 and 8, but I also have a home daycare, so we have 2 carseats in the 3rd row but the second row comfortably holds my 3 kids, even with my youngest still in a booster seat. One thing I LOVE about a minivan is power sliding doors, it is such a great convenience especially with little ones. Push a button and the door is open for you, your 4 year old can climb in and you can easily set your infant in and help your other baby without having to worry about how to open a door and hold onto everything at the same time. Just a thought, my vans have also always been the extended for tons of space behind the 3rd row, along with fewer worries in a rear end crash. good luck in finding what you need!
I have a 2010 Honda Pilot and the third row is great. You can even put 3 car seats in the 2nd row easily. I have had 8 people in that car a number of times. I also got the DVD, navigation and leather. Love this SUV!!!
We have a Chevy Trailblazer that's smaller than a Suberban and sounds like it's smaller than the Pilot. The third row is very comfortable. The second row can sit 2 (very roomy), but you have to put one of the second row seats down in order to climb into the back.
We like it because it's a skinnier SUV, but we rarely need the third row.
Why no minivan? They are great, even if not stylish. A four year old can buckle himself in and sit in the way back. With bucket seats in the second row, there is easy in and no leaning over and killing your back. The back row goes in to the floor when you need to haul things. Rethink!
