Hi guys,

I would love to make some extra $ without putting my kids in childcare and was thinking about getting a paper route. I have a VERY PT job now, where I work from 4-8am during the week and this allows me to get home to get the kids off to preschool/school before hubby leaves for work and this has worked out great but after the holidays my hours will be drastically cut and I need/want to bring in more $.

I had a paper route delivering the LA Times when I was in HS and made pretty good $.....anyone out there do this as a job so they can still be a SAHM?

Would love to hear your stories...

Thanks!

I don't know if your kids are in school or not, but have you looked into being a merchandiser for a greeting card company or something like that? This website is a cool resource for looking for jobs like that:

I just have to say that I love your name! "InMy30'sAlready?" ha! I think that every time someone asks for my age!
Anyway, I have looked at doing a paper route out here in Texas and I don't know if I could seriously handle the early hours! I think last time I looked(about a month ago) they were wanting someone who could work 2am-7am- I gather that half of that time was getting the papers ready and then delivering them. It would get me back in time to get the kids off to school, but I still have two at home and I wouldn't be able to go back to sleep!
But, if your kids are all in preschool/school- you should be able to get in a couple of hours so you aren't sleep deprived.
I would look into it and see what hours they are asking you to put in- also see what your options are if you have to go out of town or if you are sick.
Have fun!

I don't personally have a paper route but my daughter does, currently about 40 papers. This is an after school/sat morning, 6 days a week. She makes about $120 every 2 weeks, takes her about 60-75 minutes to walk her route or about 45 driving a bike or scooter. It is great money for her, and for an adult it would be great too, tax free. I have suggested it to my husband, he has a second job, makes slightly more money but after taxes and deductions, it would be about the same amount and he works about 8 hours a week at his second job.Look at what hours you would need to deliver the paper, is it something you can do while the kids are in school or can you just bring them with you. I sometimes do her papers if she has an activity and my youngest son will usually help me, or my husband will do them depending on his shifts.

my friend did it and love it. She drove around with kids in the car and they watched a movie and helped throw the papers.

Also, look into merchandising. Am greetings, Revlon, Lays Chips, Hallmark.
THese are great jobs. I can give you more infor if you want.
