As many have said, the children's museum is great, but I also wanted to let you know that if you have a Kohl membership with the reciprocal program you get in free.
My family is heading to St. Joseph, Michigan this August, for the first time. We are planning on going to the beach, but I am looking for other ideas of what we can do while we are there. We have an 8, 6 and 4 year old.
Thanks for your suggestions!

Go to www.puremichigan.org for some great ideas!! I've heard the Children's Museum is great, although I've never been myself. Have fun!
The kids and I have gone the last three summers. We love it there. Some suggestions:
1. Downtown is a lot of fun. Each year they have a different theme. This year's is miniature golf. Area businesses have decorated a "mini" miniature golf hole. They are throughout the whole downtown area - lots of photo ops.
2. The vanilla bean cheesecake is amazing at "The Chocolate Factory" downtown.
3. There is a shop downtown similar to "Build-a-bear" as well as a ceramics shop.
4. Check out the children's museum.
5. Definitely stop in the visitor's center (right downtown). They have maps, information, historical info about the area.
6. We love the beach there!
7. The "Pump House Grille" has great food and good choices for the kids as well.
Note: The first time we went someone recommended the "Silver Beach Hotel." Now they were under "remodeling" when we were there but... When we walked in the room it smelled horrible (think stinky garbage). The bedspreads were fine, but the blankets underneath had holes (large) and cigarette burns (non-smoking room) throughout. And there were bugs in the room.
The last two times we stayed at the Hampton Inn. It meant driving five minutes to town, but was so worth it. Nice pool, clean rooms, the continental breakfast was awesome (sit down area - lots of food choose from).
Have a fun vacation!

The children's museum is great. Also, there are many great little places to eat. Have fun.
I love it there. They have a nice beach/park area. We also went to the Curious Kid's Museum which was alot of fun.
As a child, we would go to St. Joe's to visit some extended family. We would often come home with large bushels of freshly picked peaches from a nearby orchard. It was alot of fun. Depending on the timing of peach harvest, maybe a trip to a local orchard would be a nice family outing.
They have an awesome childrens museum!!
Hi so you're going on a vacation and want to fine something to do!!! Although I've never been to that part of Michigan, I suggest that you look up on the computer and ask for information to be send to you. This is what I do when I plan to take a trip.
Hi S.,
St. Joe has a great children's museum called "The Curious Kid's Museum". We took our two kids there a couple of years ago and they really liked it! Of course, the beach is great there too. Hope you have a good time! C.
